Robert Morris Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 26, 2025.
Robert "Dale" Morris, 74, passed away on September 23, 2025, in Roseville, California, at Roseville Sutter Medical Center. Born on July 26, 1951, in Dinuba, California, Robert lived a life marked by passion-for sports, for his faith, and for the people around him.

A proud Californian through and through, Robert found his calling in the world of athletics. His love for sports was not just a pastime but a lifelong commitment that shaped much of his journey. He coached Junior League football with enthusiasm and dedication, played on a city league softball team with vigor, and became a respected official across multiple sports disciplines. His greatest impact came through umpiring softball games in the Sacramento area, where he not only officiated but also mentored aspiring umpires who shared his devotion to the game. His excellence in officiating earned him membership in the prestigious National Indicator Fraternity, allowing him to serve at national tournaments-an honor that reflected both his skill and integrity.

Beyond the field and diamond, Robert was known for his unwavering Christian faith. He held firm beliefs and enjoyed sharing them with those willing to engage in thoughtful conversation. His spiritual foundation guided many aspects of his life and interactions. Whether discussing scripture or offering encouragement to others, Robert's convictions were always clear and heartfelt.

Robert's personality was as strong as his faith. He embraced hard work and inspired others to strive toward their full potential. Never one to shy away from a spirited debate, he relished conversations about sports, religion, or politics-especially when it involved defending his beloved San Francisco 49ers or Giants. These discussions were often lively but always rooted in his deep passion and sharp wit.

Family was central to Robert's life. He is survived by three siblings: William Morris Jr., Josie "Marie" Chapman, and David Morris; as well as four children: Carrie Arnold (Allen), Angela Pitsch (Jeremy), Joshua Morris (Cheyenne), and Mathew Morris (April). His legacy continues through eleven grandchildren: from Carrie-Holly Sursa (Levi), Megan Massie, Rebecca Baermann (Ryan); from Angela-Brigette Bates (Jim "Ed" Scheider), Savannah Pitsch, David Pitsch; from Joshua-Eros Morris, Sayalie Morris, Roxy Morris; and from Mathew-Ava Fairchild and Caleb Fairchild.

He now joins his parents, William Eugene Morris and Kathryn "Betty" Joe Morris (née Barnes), in eternal rest, along with his siblings, Katherine "Joann" Ingrao, Frances Earlene Canida, and Tammy Michele Morris.

Robert's life was one of purpose-on the field as a coach and umpire; at home as a father, grandfather, brother; and within his community as a man of faith. His memory will live on in every game played under fair judgment, every conversation sparked by conviction, and every heart touched by his unwavering spirit.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Graveside Service will be held on October 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Smith Mountain Cemetery (42088 Rd 100, Dinuba, CA, 93618). A reception for family and friends will be held at WellSpring Christian Center (205 N I St, Dinuba, CA 93618) following the graveside service.

Bob was such an exceptional man and friend. When my husband was the assigner for GSSA and High School ball, Bob was someone he could always count on no matter the situation. I will always remember his smile and friendly attitude. Quite an exceptional gentleman.

Dale was a good friend from Dinuba High School who I had reconnected with recently on Facebook. I loved his humerous private messages. He was always trying to make me smile. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. And, Dale, my good friend, rest in peace. You will be missed.

To the family of Robert you have my deepest condolences, so sorry for the passing of Robert. I along with other fellow umpires share in the sadness of his loss and how much he will be missed. Knowing someone for whom when you see them they always have a smile on their face and positive words of encouragement is always inspirational and means so much. This is what I remember of Robert as his life will be forever celebrated and never forgotten by those who knew him. To the family, may you be comforted with love, and know that Robert's softball family will remain there for you in anyway we can.

Robert Dale was an awesome friend since 3rd Grade. Just a friendly super friend generally true and true.
Robert Dale was in the Dinuba Highschool Class of 1969
Served as an assistant Athletic Department person who was always supportive.
Robert also served on numerous committees, Annual, Sports and others<>><<>
I remember when as an editor Robert posted the saying Alumni requested under their Annual picture<><><> Thought I chose "Wild Thing...I think I Love YOU," Robert changed it to "Deuce" and our Class President to "Ace"
Robert was well loved within our class and will absolutely be missed...

DAD

Determined and strong
Amazing Poet
Dedicated father

He never gave up on the ones he loves and people he called friends. Always putting others before himself. A bit rugged on the outside, but once you got to know him... Heart of gold. Thank you Dad for giving me some of my best qualities. Be at peace.

Love,
~M.J-P.M~
