Elizabeth Gleason Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 29, 2014.
Elizabeth (Beth) Ann Gleason, the daughter of Edwin (Bus) and Ellna (Graham) Hanson, was born December 1, 1934 in Red Cloud, Nebraska. She died in Wichita, KS at the age of 79. Beth grew up in Red Cloud, Nebraska and graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1952. She married Lyle (Stub) Gene Gleason on September 18, 1954. They lived in Red Cloud until moving to Concordia, KS in 1974. She worked in banking for most of her life, first at the Peoples Webster County Bank and then at UMB Bank in Concordia where she retired in 1999. Beth belonged to the United Methodist Church her whole life. She spent the last 12 years as Chairman of the Hospitality Committee at First United Methodist in Concordia, Ks. She loved to bake and was well known for her cookies and brownies among her friends and neighbors. She and Gene loved to camp, dance, square dance, play cards, and travel. For several years, Beth enjoyed her daily walk around Concordia, and for the last couple of years, she did water walking with friends 3 days a week at the indoor pool. But, her greatest joy was her family followed closely by her many friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Gene "Stub", and her brother Jim Hanson. She is survived by her children Craig Gleason and wife Pat of Monroe, MI, Deb Lockhart of Flower Mound, TX, and Tami Reynolds and husband Bob of Wichita, KS. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Megan Lockhart, Ryan Lockhart and wife Tara, Justin Gleason, and Natalie Wyzgowski and husband Dave; two great grandchildren, Holden and Gentry Lockhart; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., June 2, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Concordia, Kansas with the Rev. Tessa Zehring officiating. Interment will be at the Red Cloud Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 1-3:00 p.m., and Monday, 8:00 a.m. to service time at the church.
