Robert M. Musselman, 89, 6361 Chambersburg Road, Fayetteville, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at the Gettysburg Hospital.

He was born May 15, 1923 in Fairfield, the son of the late Peter C. and Alice Spangler Musselman. Bob's wife of 65 years, Betty Rebert Musselman, died last month.

Mr. Musselman was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfield. He was a 1941 graduate of Fairfield High School. Bob was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in India and Burma, where he received a Purple Heart. Mr. Musselman was a 1948 graduate of Millersburg University and then went on to teach fifth grade at Lower Tract school in Fairfield. For 32 years, he was employed as a claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance Company. Bob and Betty enjoyed 29 years of retirement in Deltona, Fla., Round Rock, Texas, and Gettysburg. He was an avid golfer, who was a member of Gettysburg Country Club. Mr. Musselman was a past member of the Fairfield Fire Company, the Gettysburg Elks and the Gettysburg American Legion, Post 202.

Mr. Musselman is survived by four children, John P. Musselman and his wife Pamela of Gettysburg, Robert M. Musselman II and his wife Mary of Burnet, Texas, Ronald J. Musselman and his wife Sharon of Round Rock, Texas, Nancy J. Mummert and her significant other Yannis Vidalis of Athens, Greece; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Musselman of Niceville, Fla., Richard Musselman of Orlando, Fla., two sisters, Dorothy Fink of Orlando, Fla., and Betty Clemens of Berwick. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Nikki; a great-grandson, Matthew; a brother, Kenneth Musselman; and three sisters, Lucille Knox, Jean Irvin, Evelyn Cromwell.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. at Monahan Funeral Home, Fairfield, with the Rev. Kenneth Reid officiating. Private interment will be in Mc-Knightstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
