To all,
Rob was a rock, solid and steadfast, yet more than that, Rob was a gem. I only just learned about a measurement called Gross National Happiness (GNH) and realized that each time after speaking with Rob, no matter what the subject, my happiness always rose dramatically. If my happiness were a physical feeling it would be like standing in front a fire with a hot chocolate after a cold toboggan run. Every conversation lifted my heart and made me smile. Rob was a wealth of information and always made communication something to cherish. My fondest memory was his description of how the elder Sharp Tailed Grouse would teach the younger male grouse to boogie in order to attract the female of the species. With each conversation I became a richer person.
He will be missed greatly.
My condolences to his family, George, and friends.

Did not meet Bob until my adopted uncle - George Ioanin who was visiting with me reconnected with his biological brother - Bob Nelson in the early 90's. He and I think most of his family of 9 (and theirs) took us to dinner at La Brezza then on a subsequent visit to the Olive Garden. - I seem to recall 'young Bob' was kind of the MC and 'life of the parties'!! - The last time we saw them was at his Dad's funeral - and Uncle George is gone now too. - Lots of mostly good memories which after reading Bob's Obituary and Guest Book notes am sure all his family/friends/associates have also. - Sorry you lost him so soon.

To George, Dan and the rest of the Nelson family, I wish to express my condolences on Rob's passing. His humour and work ethic taught me so much. I was young and I still remember the day filling out my application for a jughound in Beavers office. He walked in and said to the receptionist " If any rodmen come in hire them." I replied "should I put rodman on this application ?" He hired me on the spot. Goodbye Rob!

I first met Rob while I was permitting a seismic program in the sandhills near Wainwright Alberta and Rob was the head surveyor and catpush. Throughout that project Rob shared his knowledge, and passion and displayed a commmitment to professionalism that made a strong impression on a very junior permitman. I had the good fortune to work closely with Rob, George and Enviro-Tech on a number of projects throughout the years and it is my observation that Rob continued to serve the seismic industry with integrity, honour and dare I say it humility! I think one of Rob's many strengths, beyond his sense of humour and curisoty was his capacity to mentor. Again I count myself among the many beneficiaries of this generosity as do countless surveyors , mappers, permit agents, sports aficiandoes, gardeners and the list goes on. But not the least was as a gentleman. Rob I will miss your honesty , friendship and guidance

On my very first seismic job, 1974, Rob was the lead surveyor for Beaver Geo in the Chin. Although I never knew Rob well at that time and quite frankly was a bit intimidated by him I admired his dedication, professionalism and compassion for his crew. Over the years our paths crossed numerous times and we became friends. I have always looked forward to work with Enviro-Tech not only because his employees were groomed with the same work ethics but it gave me a reason to chat with Rob on a regular basis. I will sadly miss our talks and will never forget the 'chuckles' we shared. Truly a remarkable man.

I met Rob in 1984 near Wrigley in the NWT. He was the head surveyor in charge of a gravity survey and I was one of his pilots. I will always remember that summer with fond thoughts of such a brilliant, funny, kind man. To this day I have not met anyone with such energy and diplomacy. It must be such a sad day for his family for I am so sad and only knew him a short time. Please accept my condolences and well wishes.

A friend and good neighbour. There is no fence between Rob's yard and ours, because "good neighbours make good neighbours." With sympathy from his next door neighbour, who will dearly miss our chats about baseball and hockey.

My sister and her husband own a fishing camp in Bamfield B.C. One day as she was preparing meals for the guests she noticed a man strolling around her well manicured lawn and garden area. She did not reconize this man as been one of the guests so she went out and said hello and asked
if she could help him [ potential customer thing ] and she says I met the politest, jovial and most interesting human
she had ever come across. It was Rob,he was just cruising enjoying the garden, sunshine and everything else that makes the coast beautifull. They spent a long time talking and the conversation turned to work where it did not take long to discover I was Karen's brother and also worked in the seismic industry. My sister called me a few days later and went on about the big polite man with the booming, infectious laugh. That was Rob. The Best.
My sincere condolences to George and the rest of the Nelson family.
