Robert Dean Nelson, 74, of Panora formerly of Casey passed away December 11, 2005 at the Panora Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart Iowa 50250. Robert was born June 29, 1935 in Dexter, Iowa to Andrew and Alveda L. Kohl Nelson. He was raised on a farm south of Dexter and attended rural county schools and then graduated from Dexter High School. Robert was united in marriage to Myrna Cass in Dexter and to this union five children were born, Robert, Deb, Christina, Andrew, Christina and Alveda. This marriage later ended in divorce. After their marriage they farmed in the Dexter area before moving South Dakota where Robert worked as a ranch hand. Robert spent several years up north traveling from ranch to ranch before moving back to Casey. Robert enjoyed fishing, listening to country music, mechanicing, having fun, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Christina (Tina) Marie Nelson, brother Jimmy Allen Nelson, son-in-law Gail Spinden, brother-in-law, Gene "Pete" Stanley, one great grandson Aden Andrew Beaman, and his long time companion Florence Erickson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Robert Nelson and his wife Linda of Menlo, Iowa, Deb Nelson-Spinden of Casey, Iowa, Andrew Nelson and his wife Pauline of Linden, Iowa, and Alveda Nelson and her companion Kim Lazo of Puyallup, Washington; sisters, Shirley Jean Fredrickson and her husband Harry, Jr. of Linden, Iowa and Joyce Marie Stanley of Casey, Iowa; brother, William Lee Nelson of Menlo, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews all of whom will miss him greatly.
