Robert Lorraine Nold, 65, of Belleville, Ill., born Nov. 3, 1943, in Mascoutah, Ill., died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill., after an extended illness.
Mr. Nold graduated from Cathedral High School and St. Louis University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country during the Vietnam era in Pirmasens, Germany, as a communications specialist. He was employed by the treasury department and worked in St. Louis, Poplar Bluff, and Kansas City, Mo. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Parish, Belleville, Ill., and a member of the American Legion Post 499 of Blue Springs, Mo.
He was greatly loved by his entire family and his strong spirit was an inspiration to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo H. and Anita, nee Fellner, Nold; his nephew and godson, Daniel L. Cullen; and sister-in-law, Karen, nee Daugherty, Nold.
Surviving are his four siblings, Richard E. (Yvette) Nold of Fort Worth, Texas, Nancy J. (Lawrence) Cullen of Norcross, Ga., Mark M. (Kathy) Nold of St. Louis, Mo., and Lois N. (Robert) Murphy of Belleville, Ill.; nieces and nephews, Laura (Michael) Young, Julia (Tyler) Alexander, Nicholas (fiancee, Elizabeth Kearns) Nold, Christopher Nold, Gregory Cullen, Cynthia (fiance, Jeremy Kimmel) Cullen, Andrea Cullen, Elizabeth Nold, Theresa (Michael) Coleman, Kevin Nold, Rachel Nold, Margaret Nold, Patrick Murphy and Kathleen Murphy; two step nephews, Kenneth (Mary Lynn) Murphy and Russell Murphy; and six great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2009, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., with Monsignor William McGhee officiating. Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
