Rip Bob, we will always miss you

December 16, 2017

I miss you knowing I won't see you again!

I will always remember so many things, here are a few:

Asking you and Christa to adopt me, my first memory of you both together. I thought long and hard about that proposition, for a 8 or 9 year old, I had answers for all your questions, such as you asking don't you think your parents will miss you? My answer's We can visit, you have a pool, and Christa does lots of crafts with me. I knew you were good people.

Not remembering preforming a magic trick as a kid, which failed miserably! You reminded me it of while doing the toast to the bride at my wedding (it was short lived, the wedding not the toast).

The annual dinners with the girls, Mom was excluded because you said she was too old haha. We would get our hair done and borrow fancy dresses, if we didn't have our own, (many of mine from Denise and Eleanor) and go for a special dinner. My fav was Bishops; they overheard us talking about how good old fashion popcorn made on the stovetop was, the staff went to Safeway, bought corn kernels and unexpectedly served us all popcorn. We were there for HOURS! Other memorable nights included the Beach House, Star Anise, Diva at the Met, and you cooking for us all (sorbet included to cleanse our palate for the next course)

You telling me about your niece and her boyfriend visiting and you would get up in the middle of the night to make sure they were not in the same room. I think of this as our first adult conversation Me asking how this made sense as you went on vacation with your girlfriends. You said it was different, they were kids. They were in their 30's and lived together

So many family holidays and dinners; Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Father's Day. I have two favourites of these times: the year it was Dad, Mom, Monica, Denise, you and me for Christmas, an adult Christmas. You gave us all memories of Christa The other was Father's Day 2016 and how Christena and I were terrified going up the sea to sky gondola. I also know you called Dad to ask what he was wearing ;-) The first words out of you when I met you at the door were am I dressed okay. You were always dressed okay for the occasion, and while grumpy in your later years, always debonair.

Hosting a dinner for your 80th birthday. My Mom was not well but everyone came to my little apartment. You telling me the halibut was not halibut, me advising that's what the packaging said and under your breath. you don't get good halibut from a package. I heard you. And I now know.

Visiting you after your heart attack and telling me you will steal my cigarettes and not to leave my purse. Telling how you watched the Paramedics work on you from above. I know, I never told you how much comfort this has given me in my family losses this last decade plus!

Summer 2017 at St, Paul's, you telling me about Christa's last three weeks and how we don't tell people we love them enough and the importance of doing so.

You have had so many beautiful people in your life, other than my family. Christa, Christina, Bianca and your family.

I recently met Bianca, Bonnie, and John, as worlds collide. You always pick the good ones!

Bianca, while only meeting her once, you can tell how amazing of a person she is! She took amazing care of you better than anyone else could.

I know you know we all love you but hearing it is better, but for me saying it without crying was hard, I tried.

Love You
