I just saw this today (1/8/25). Dr Paoletti was that young prof I had at King´s. In the hallway before class, we were discussing who our professor for cell physiology was going to be. We saw this new guy, thinking he was a fellow student. He announced that he was our teacher! Great guy, great course, but tough course!
I went on to teach biology, anatomy and ecology at a small college in Philly burbs, starting in 1979 (age 30 then), the start of my 35 year career. Fast forward....somewhere in the early 2000s, I ran into Bob at the parking lot at King´s. He still looked familiar to me, and he recalled my name as well. We exchanged some teacher stories, and I was so happy to see him again. A great guy, and gone too soon. This week, I lost a close high school friend to cancer, aged 75. Life is too short!

My heartfelt sympathy to Sue and family. Bob was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. I got him to laugh many times on coffee break at Kings. He was brilliant in his field and I know his students learned so much from him. Rest in peace, Bob.

What a wonderful professor. Had a great influence on my career path. So kind and gentle, yet very challenging in class. It will be very tough for King's to replace such a great man...

Here is a collection of comments from former students at King's College upon hearing of Dr. Paoletti's passing:
"I took several biology courses with him and he was brilliant, kind and an excellent teacher. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends."
"What a wonderful professor he was. An honor to learn from him."
"I worked to the bone to keep with him in Cell Bio. Great man and professor"
"Pao was one of my favorite professors during my time at Kings!!"
" He was a great father, professor and person. He guided me throughout my undergraduate career as well as my wife. We are praying for him and his family"
"He was a great teacher and overall nice guy."
"He was an excellent mentor and teacher. He will definitely be missed!"
"I remember in one of his labs he said that a sign of respect was to leave the top shelf of the incubator for your elders and superiors so we better not touch his shelf. He was a tough but nice guy and he will be missed."
"He was a great advisor to me in college. One of my favorite professors and a good man."
"Loved his eukaryotic molecular biology class and that rare smile he flashed!"
He was obviously well-respected and loved by the students he taught over (let's call it) 50 years as a professor.

My sympathy to you Sue, and the family. Bob was always an upbeat guy who I enjoyed working with for nearly 30 years at King's. Dr Paoletti was the epitome of what every teacher should be: intelligent, witty, and passionate about the subjects he taught. It was an honor to be his student, and my heart breaks for the loss his family, both at home and at King's, will bear with his passing. You will be missed Dr Paoletti.

Had Dr. Paoletti early in his tenure at King's ( 1972 ), wonderful teacher. Got to know him outside the classroom after graduation. Great man, kind, thoughtful, gracious. Neither rain nor snow kept him away from lunch time with his bride. Terrible loss.
