To my big brother Bob. My first memories of Bob was when I was very young {about 2 years old} When we lived in Englewood we had twin beds below ground and there were a lot of spiders there, so Bob would take a flashlight and search the room for spiders. After he assured me there were none he would hold my hand till I fell asleep even though his arm would ache he never let go till I was asleep. He has always called me "baby sister" all of my life. I used to go everywhere with him no matter what, I would always tag along. I was always safe when he was with me. He was my Hero. I remember the story's he would tell me and he could imitate Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck and Yosemite Sam. He read me the whole book of Wind in The Willows and became all the characters in that book. I remember when he went to war at a very young age and I knew he would come back, and he did! After the war he would take me every thursday night to the Stanley theater for the "Sneak Preview and buy us both a Rowntrees 6 center chocolate bar. There are so many memories, I could write a book. I loved him very much and I know he loved me. What I remember most is his whole life. When he returned from the war he was a Hero. When he became a Fireman, he was Hero when he brought back to life a little girl that had drowned. His was a life of giving and service. I know he loved his family very much, Debbie, Judy, Janet and Clayton. The last time I spoke to him was on his birthday, July 13/09. I sang Happy Birthday to him over the phone and told him I loved him with all my heart and he replied, " I love you too Sweet Baby Sister" I will miss him every day. Rest in peace my beloved brother. Till we meet again in Paradise. Your "Baby Sister", Stephanie.

To my Unkie Bob, thanks for all those little chats over the years, and the one and only I could share my Dad stories with. He was my Dad's best friend and I sure the two of you are having a great time at the copacabana! Thanaks for all those childhood memories and the campfire song, "Found a Peanut" you sang with such humor. My condolences to my cousins and his children Debbie, Judi, Janet and Clay and family who also were a great part of our families' life. I love you all.

I was very sorry to hear that Bob had passed away. I started with Richmond Fire in 1981 and he was truly a great guy to be around. He was always knowledgable and entertaining and generally a nice guy to be around. My condolences to Bob's family members.

I remember Bob as a friend of my brothers Bill & Russ Bartrim, it seems they were always up to something that impressed a little kid like me.

I remember my big brother, who liked to be called Robert more than "Bob", as this big guy who was quite an entertaining storyteller. He was rarely at a loss for words and loved a good joke.
He was 18yrs my senior and when I was about 3 or 4 yrs old I would go down to the mill in Port Alice and wait for the shift whistle to blow. He would come out and swing me up on his shoulders and carry me home, more like my dad than my brother.
He was very creative when it came to fixing things, and would tackle almost any challenge, although sometimes there might be a part or two left over when it was put back together, but it never bothered him too much.
He had a great love of music and would play any instrument he could get his hands on, figuring it out as he went along, no time for formal training.
I miss him, his sense of humor, and friendly voice, in whatever was the language of the day.
Now he is the one riding the shoulders.
Rest in peace my brother, I'll be seeing you someday.

I remember Bob at 9 years of age walking up the driveway of the home on Collingwood, I was six. He came to live with us and became the brother I always wanted. We both had wonderful memories of the growing up years on Collingwood. It was there he had his first job at the Piggly Wiggley yes there was actually a store named that. He was also a soda jerk at Harcus Drugstore and would make the most wonderful floats with his white cooks hat on. He left for the war from our place on York we were all scared and an hour later he was knocking on the door again he missed the train. We joked he had done that on purpose. My late husband became the best of friends with Bob and we would trailer up to Dutch Lake in the summers with Liz who is my best friend and their young family as well as my daughter Sheree and myself. His brother Pat who lives in Oregon made the trip up to pay his respects as did his sister Stephanie from Nanaimo. We also shared many memories that we remembered. I will miss him dearly as I am sure his family will. I wish them my condolences and wish all of them well for it is no easy loosing a father. RIP my dear heart of hearts ..... Donna
