Robert Pelletier Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 27, 2015.
Gray – Robert L. Pelletier, age 67, of Shaker Rd. in Gray, passed peacefully Wednesday morning at the Androscoggin Hospice House with his loving family by his side. Bob was born in Lewiston June 30, 1947, the only child to Lucien and Amanda (Fortin) Pelletier. He attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1966. On May 5, 1973 he married his love, his wife of 41 years, Christine (Cormier) Pelletier. The two have lived and raised their family in Gray since 1976. Bob served his country in the Army Reserves for several years, while working as a welder and machinist. He was employed first by General Electric for 13 years, and more recently worked at Philips Elmet in Lewiston, where he was a dedicated employee for 24 years before his health forced him to retire in 2006. Bob, along with his family, was a devoted member of St. Gregory's Parish in Gray. He enjoyed spending time with his family, annual fishing trips to Cliff Lake with dear friends, sports, and his true love of hockey. He could often be heard recalling his days as goalkeeper for his high school hockey team, and then later, his years spent playing in local contractors' leagues. Bob was the very definition of the phrase true family man. What he will be most remembered for is his boundless devotion to his family. He was a tireless supporter of his children, Brian and Laurie, never missing a practice, a game or a concert. He could always be found standing on the sidelines or sitting in the bleachers, video camera in hand. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Bob and Christine's marriage and parenting is the legacy that Bob leaves to those fortunate enough to have called him family. Bob leaves his wife Christine Pelletier of Gray; his son Brian Pelletier and wife Kim of New Gloucester; his daughter Laurie Theberge and husband Jared also of New Gloucester, grandchildren Nick and Sydney Pelletier, and Ethan and Evan Theberge, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Arlene and Rosaire Cormier of Sanford and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carole and Robert Wright of Riverside, WA. He is predeceased by his parents Lucien and Amanda Pelletier. You are invited to share your thoughts, condolences and fond memories with Bob's family by visiting their online guestbook at: www.thefortingroupauburn.com

Visitation will be held at Fortin's in Auburn on Sunday March 1, from 6:00 to 9:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church Monday at 11 AM. Bob was a great friend of mine at St. Louis School in New Auburn. We enjoyed playing together in the school yard and later on the baseball and hockey teams. As eighth graders in 1961-62 we won the twin city parochial hockey league as undefeated champions. Bob took great pride in his 3 speed Schwinn bike. At Edward Little he wanted to be a goalie in his sophomore year and he ended up being a good one as a senior playing in the state finals against St. Dom's and then in Providence in the New England tourney. RIP to a good friend who I was sorry to hear suffered from a bad illness. We lost track of each other over time but I have never forgotten you. May God bless you and take great care of you in heaven my friend!

Dear Christine, I'm so sorry to read that you have lost Bob. Please know that you and your family are in our prayers! I liked Bob a lot when we were growing up and attending St. Louis School together. Bob grew up to be a very nice man. He was very blessed to have you to care for him all these years. God Bless!
