Robert Edward Perkins

I had the great pleasure of singing with Robert and other alumni of the Harvard Glee Club in Nagasaki in 2009. On stage with us at the cathedral built from the ashes of one destroyed by the bomb were alumni of the Kyoto University Glee Club. It was a powerful experience for the many of us whose fathers had fought on one side or the other of the war, who now sang in harmony together.

I remember how your dad taught me to play chess with that wonderful chess set you had! And his unforgettable and hilarious humor -- it was a joy to have him in our lives, as kids. Love to you all.

Bob was president of the Western Mass chapter of the American Assn. of Teachers of French and I was a member of this group. We got to know each other as fellow members of this group and as colleagues as I supervised student- teachers of French from UMass at the Deerfield Academy. I enjoyed working with Bob and am so sorry to hear of his passing.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Robert was always a fount of good humor, great stories and he was proud of being a wise and caring educator. My condolences go out to his entire family and especially to his bereaved husband, Rick.

It was my pleasure to know Robert some years ago, when he lived in the DC area. He great love of music was evident and he was active in so many musical organizations in this area (and others). It is with great sadness that I learn of his passing.
