I lived next door to the Perry's. I met Bob one day long ago when he walked to our house to say "hi". I can still picture him walking down the hill with his leather bag of Bocce balls. He took the time to introduce me to Bocce, a game I still enjoy to this day. I have fond memories of Bob as an easy going, open and friendly neighbor.

I worked for Bob and many of the basic research scientists at FCCC back in the day when we identified with the facility as being the ICR (Institute for Cancer Research). He was a great human being, or as we say in Yiddish, a mensche.
He had a great sense of humor and was humble as they come, meaning he was
a brilliant scientist but did not flaunt his talents, knowledge and abilities, but rather did his thing and was renowned for it. I enjoyed working for and with
him and my staff in the graphic arts Special Services dept. when I took over the helm from Larry Anderson in 1981 for the next 27 years, 33 in all before
I retired. I wish to express my sympathy to Zoila and family. He will be missed
by many who knew and enjoyed his friendship and collegiality over the years.
He did have the longest speeches ever for anyone he was presenting to. We
all knew it and he would say it up front, this one will be a long one, or some
such comment. Yes, I always called him Bob and he started me on using a first-name basis for my relationships and interactions with the other scientists
and docs. whom I served. Sam [Sorof], Martin [Nemer] Al [Sutnik] Al [Knudson], and so on. Bob was a giant among these great researchers.
