Robert Petrowski

PETROWSKI – Robert J., “Bob,” 56, Westmont, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 19, 2008. Born in Johnstown on Jan. 29, 1952, son of Stanley and Frances (Holbay) Petrowski. Preceded in death by his father, who died in 2006, and brother-in-law, Frank Blair Sr., who died in 2008. Survived by his mother; sister, Irene Blair, Windber; brothers, Wallace, Northville, Mich., and David, married to Patricia (Bromberg), Lapeer, Mich. Also survived by nieces, Christine Miller; Connie Wilson, wife of Chuck, and Katelyn “Katie” Petrowski; nephews, Frank Blair Jr. and A.J. Petrowski; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and special friends, Cindy Yingling and Diane Miller. Bob graduated in 1970 from Bishop McCort High School. He joined the Pennsylvania National Guard in 1971, with the 28th Infantry Division, 103rd Armor Military Police. He was employed by Allegheny Manufacturing and Electric Service, formerly Westinghouse, as a motor and apparatus winder since 1970. Bob was a meticulous craftsman. His workmanship was always of highest quality. When he finished a job, everyone knew it was done the right way. He enjoyed simple things in life such as gardening, woodworking and mechanical repairs. His hobbies included working on his vehicles, which always had a high shine. His home and landscaping were always spotless and orderly. He enjoyed all forms of auto racing and had an extensive collection of model racing and sports cars. He loved small animals and would carry treats for them in his truck. Relatives and friends will now miss his advice and assistance in projects that they would ask his help. He could always be relied upon and would not easily say no. He was a caring and loving son and brother, and tried to provide well for his parents. For his family and friends, his heart was as big as the ocean. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
