Dear Richard, Chris and Jean:
We just learned of Bob's death, not unexpected as he has seemed to be in waiting since Mary died. Your Mother was one of my Mother's students at Kamloops High School. Mom and Mary remained in contact over those decades and when I moved to Calgary in the 90s they regularly visited with Bob and Mary. They went fishing together at my folks cabin a few times as well - my Dad and Bob could sit in the boat without conversation but with pleasure for ages - the silence broken only by the joy over catching a fish. Over the years I saw Mary regularly and Bob often - I appreciated his smile and interest and he liked to talk with my husband about the oil patch, golf and sports. We were pleased that his sports accomplishments and Olympic contribution were acknowledged. He was a fine gentleman and the world will be forever a little emptier for his absence. I would have preferred to write a letter but I have no addresses to contact you so please know that we share your loss. We will make a donation to Kidsport in Bob's memory as I believe he felt sports were a joy to be appreciated by all.
Sincerely,
Linda and Greg Barnes and Verna Hickey (Mary's teacher)

I worked under Bob in Fort Mcmurray and Calgary. I remember Bo coming to Fort McMurray and I was driving a Cardwell company truck, he asked me if I had a company car I said no I drive a company truck so Bob said the next time I go to Calgary he would arrange a company car for me. Based on the Cardwell oilfield supply store chain I was asked to set up a supply store at Resolte Bay in the Arctic islands. Always a strong supporter as I struggled trying to figure out how to make this happen Th Resolte Bay project turned out to be very successful, thanks to Bob'songoing support
