Robert Plutchik

Dr. Robert Plutchik, 78, Sarasota, died April 29, 2006. He was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and came to Sarasota 10 years ago from New Rochelle, N.Y. He was professor of psychology and psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He graduated from City College in New York and received his master's and doctorate degrees from Columbia University. He was a fellow of the American Psychological Association, a member of Sigma XI and the International Society for Research on Emotions. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Dr. Anita; daughters Lisa Silva of Sarasota and Dr. Lori of New York City; a son, Roy of Dallas; and three grandchildren. Services were Monday at Temple Beth Sholom. The family observed Shiva on Monday after the service and will observe Shiva again today from 4 to 8 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. at the Plutchik residence. Burial was in Palms Memorial Park. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is in charge.
