Robert L. "Bob" Proctor

My heart goes out to you, Dot, and to Robert and his family. I have so many special memories of fun times we had together as neighbors in League City when George and Bob were coaching and teaching together, and you and I working together at Soil Conservation.
I remember the day that my Billy and
Robert turned over the gasoline in your garage playing ball, and caused a fire. I know how devastated we were when you guys moved on to White Oak. We
still have good memories of trips to Lake of the Pines for summer visits. Vicki and Buddy and I were reliving those times not long ago. God bless you all at this sad time, and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers always. With our love,

To my beloved father-in-law. Bob-Bob, as we called him. Our life's journey begin in high school when you were my biology teacher, principal and superintendent. As the story goes you encouraged Robert to ask me for a date. We dated for seven years and will celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary in June. Thank you Bob-Bob for giving me the loves of my life Robert and Robert II. You were my mentor, friend and most loving and supportive father-in-law. I will deeply miss and love you always.

Mr. Bob Procter was always there for me. He was one of my best friends. Him and Mrs. Dot would always sit behind me and my Grandma during church services. I always called Mrs. Dot the gum lady because she'd always give me gum right before service started. I'd always draw for them too. They had my drawings all over their refridgerator. Mrs. Dot even told me that it got so full she started putting them on her cabnet doors. I surely will miss Bob...

I have always valued Bobby Proctor for his many fine qualities. We attended the same church in League City and he was so personable to me. He had a tremendous 236-25 record in ten years as a junior high basketball coach. He had six one loss seasons and seemed to lose that one early in the season. I would always chide him and tell him he couldn't go undefeated that year. In his football coaching career, a game at Deer Park against a very good team stands out. We took the opening kickoff and scored, kicked onside and scored again. Deer Park was behind two touchdowns and had not even run a play. We won the game by that margin. He introduced me to the term "mawtapper" a word that got from one of his coaches. He would have described the Deer Park game that way. I wonder if he ever used that word at White Oak? I have not seen him in many years but I will always remember him fondly. He was a great coach and a great person.

Mr. Proctor was my principal at White Oak High School for only one semester before he became superintendent in 1981. Nonetheless, in that short time he was a wonderful mentor for a young teacher who was still getting her feet wet in the education business. I will never forget his patience with me and the feeling I always had when I was around him that he really cared about me and my students. He will be missed and appreciated by many for all his contributions to White Oak ISD.

I was certainly sad to hear this news about Coach Proctor. He was my basketball coach at Seabrook Jr. High School in the NASA area of Houston a long, long time ago. He was a great coach but much more to me. He was a mentor, a teacher, and a friend who believed in me and inspired me to set the highest goals and work tirelessly toward meeting them. I will miss him and I send my condolences to all his family and a wish for peace for them.

In my 48 years of teaching Robert Proctor was the smartest administrator I ever worked for. His love and loyalty to White Oak Independent School District will never be surpassed. He set the mark of those who taught under him to be "the best we could be for the WOISD students." Robert Proctor was a wonderful compassionate Christian man who loved his faculty and cared about all people. He was not only my administrator, but my friend, and he will be greatly missed by those who knew him. The education profession has lost a great leader.

I remember Mr. Proctor so well from my teaching days at White Oak. He was always very kind to me during those years when I was a young teacher. I know he will be greatly missed.

Dot and Robert, I was saddened to learn that Coach had passed away. I was fortunate to be on his first basketball team when he came to White Oak, and I enjoyed some wonderful times playing for him. The party after our Clear Creek tournament at Astronaut John Glenn's home ranks high on my list of memories. The many trips to "away" games in the Greenbriar van provided some great memories also. As you well know, he was " intense" on the court, but we knew he loved us, and we laughed and shook it off. I wonder if he still has those lucky boxer drawers?
