Robert Quade Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 31 to Feb. 5, 2023.
Bob left this world in early January to join his late wife Linda after a long battle with cancer. Many will miss his loving energy, including his younger brother John (Mary) of Spring Hill Florida, nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews throughout the U.S., adopted grandchild ViK Stohl and close friends Ann Chulk and Barry Levitt, both of Indianapolis, International Folk dancers spanning many states, and his kitties Patience and Greylyn.

Bob was truly a renaissance man: artist, musician, poet, writer, and muser of life, social systems and human connections. Bob and Linda were well-known as International Folk Dancers for over 50 years in Indianapolis and Chapel Hill/Durham, NC. Bob left behind hundreds of mixed media art pieces that reflect his profound relationship with the world around him. Many in the Indianapolis art community may remember his collaboration with Lois Templeton in the early 2000's and his membership in a Broad Ripple Village art collective. Currently he has a piece on display in the lobby of Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Bob cared about local businesses, local sourcing, and his impact on the world. He often described his most important role in life as one engaged in the reflections of love, as both a conduit and receiver. Passionate about free thought, he was an endless vessel of knowledge, curiosity and reflection. Even 3 weeks prior to passing, he contributed to NPR and independent magazine The Sun.

A memorial will be held this summer at their home, affectionately known as Quade Pie Hall (as their love was "pie in the sky").Online Streaming will be available. His art will be on display and available for purchase by donation to favorite organizations. To receive memorial information or to send condolences, please email [email protected].

Bob ended every passionate journal entry with the same phrase. Be it a hard day, beautiful day, or painful day, he chose gratefulness. In loving memory so we end this remembrance: Thanks Be!

Bob (and Linda) really took me under their wing when I first moved to Indy. I'm so grateful for all of the discussions, dances in the living room, after dance restaurants, lessons on self-love and career building (this one's Linda's) and everything else I haven't named. Love and miss you both. You'll always be Grandma Linda and Grandpa Bob to me. <3

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Bob. He was the most kind, empathetic, loving person. He always had a good word to say about anybody. I will miss him.
I am sure he missed Linda greatly. I can imagine he is enjoying the afterlife as he was a very soulful person.

Grampa Bob, I miss you. I wish I had known you for longer, because in our short few years together we communed often over poetry, deep thoughts, art, Vera, Hershey's kisses and singing together at the top of our lungs. Wishing you a fulfilling journey in the afterlife with your Linda. Thanks Be <3
