You will be missed greatly for your environmental and humanitarian causes, and your movies. You will live on through your movies and films like A RiverRuns Through It, So scenic so meaningful . Friends and I can watch the Horse Whisperer and Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid a million times and never get tired of them. But what we remember most is your kindness, your humility and how you treated everyone with respect. We´ll never forget you. Terry Hardy

He was my favorite actor and director. I always had a crush on him too because he was so handsome. My brother has the same strawberry blonde hair and always reminds me of Robert Redford though my brother isn't as handsome!

A man I once knew, for a moment: he was a pleasure to work with. One morning in the early '80s, at a film studio in DC, we met and he recorded the voiceover for a series of commercials I'd written for the National Wildlife Federation. At first his delivery was a bit flat, short on emphasis. The problem wasn't my script, he assured me-it was just that he needed other actors to interact with. "I don't know why they ask me to do these things" he lamented, meaning nature films, two or three of which he'd narrated before. They asked him, of course, because of his well-known concern for the environment; on top of which, he worked gratis. We did scores of takes that day, Redford patient through it all and needlessly apologetic. Eventually it got done--pretty much to perfection. A diligent and decent man indeed.

I believe he captured the essence of the man we've lost.

Since he passed I have researched and watched every interview I could find which showed me what a great actor he was because of the difference between him and his characters.
In one interview he was asked what he would have done if he had not done acting. The answer was another art form, so typical of an artist to think of more to do.

He said in an interview, exactly what I would have said about how and when I learned to love movies.
"In a 2019 interview for Collider, Redford talked about the beginning of his lifelong love for cinema: 'I was a little kid during the Second World War and there was no television, only radio, and the dream was on the weekend to walk to the neighborhood theater and see a movie. To me that was such a joy... The lights would go off and you could feel some magic happening on the big screen and feel the energy of the people around you.' "

One of the truly great ones over many, many years. It was always great knowing you were still around. Difficult now knowing that you are gone.

A sincere man, talented actor and devoted activist. We have lost another great one. Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mr. Redford didn't get his due as an actor and as a director (except for Ordinary People in 1980). But now, looking back on his performances we understand how brilliantly understated they were. And that, as a director he was a very gifted storyteller. He leaves behind a truly impressive body of work and an important piece of the natural world that will remain preserved.

Somehow I know that he wouldn't want us to be intimidated by how accomplished he was.
Instead, I think he would have cherished inspiring us to what heights of positive action we might achieve in our lives.

Robert Redford took a significant stab at the old Hollywood machine! They wanted certain movies to be made certain ways,only with certain races at the helm of these movies, certain races were a always the most important, certain races were only supposed to be the main characters, down through history. Mr. Redford created a place where ANYBODY could present their body of work,he made a film festival available so that movies stemming from all creeds,races, and colors could present their body of work to be justifiably seen,heard and acknowledged. Knowing in his heart that all ideas, are valuable to everyone!!! Diversity, Inclusion, and Equality was what he stood for,he was a fighter,period...so much better than others who stood against those important values of today. I applaud him for his values,his beliefs which I share.

Robert Redford was the man I wanted to marry since I first watched him in movies. All my life my family joked that I was in love with him! And I was! I have cried watching him in The Way we Were, and my other favourite Out of Africa. He was not just a wonderful actor, he connected with us all even if we never met him! I am sad today, remembering all the joy this man brought to my life

By far one of the most impactful actors/directors of this generation. . with performances that will outlive him, memories that conjure magic in the imagination. My favorite " The Horse Whisperer," & "Out of Africa" filmed in my native country of Kenya. in the words of Karen Blixen (Meryl Streep)-
"Now take back the soul of Denys George Finch-Hatton whom you have shared with us. He brought us joy and we loved him well. He was not ours. He was not mine."

Truly a credit to his craft, an actor that always gave his all in any and every role he played. His love of acting also showed in his directing movies, he never disappointed. Sincerest condolences to the Redford family, so very sorry for your loss. May God be with you as you endure this most difficult time of your loss.

My sincere condolences to Robert Redford's family. While many will remember hius as a great actor, I will remember him as well for his great directorial efforts, including "Ordinary People". I find that film to be powerful and emotional each time I view it and the performances he was able to get from Mary Tyley Moore, Donald Sutherland, Timothy Hutton and Judd Hirsch were remarkable. An Oscar-Winning effort on his part. He leaves behind a legacy of excellence in whatever he accomplished.

I first fell for Mr. REDFORD WHEN MY DAD SAID lets GO DO SOMETHING AND HE TOOK ME TO SEE butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. Mom wouldn't go with him to another western so I did. Robert Redford created a beautiful place to visit called Sundance. I saw him once walking with his head down as if he hoped not to be noticed. I didn´t invade his privacy but just smiled as he walked by. We will miss the actor who chose Utah as his home.

As an American actor/ screenwriter, I've always admired Robert Redford's work. His acting was always very thoughtful and interesting in a clever, deft way. It's as if he were searching for words instead of following a script. A very rare and underrated actor. Hollywood could take a lesson.

I had the honor of talking to him on the phone. I was working at a phone company in a special department that followed up on orders on telephone installations. I was surprised when answered the phone. He was so gracious. Of course I told him I was a big fan and told him if my favorite movies. He sad I was so kind.
We´ve lost a great humanitarian and actor. He left us a GREAT legacy!!!

Standing 10ft away from Mr Redford for days as an extra, during the "golden hour", one could not help noticing how handsome Mr Redford was. During my brief experience with greatness, Mr Redford was kind and considerate to the extras. I have always admired his film projects, both as actor, director and to the film industry with the Sundance Festival. I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite film. So many wonderful films to choose from.

Robert Redford one of my favourite actors and human beings. Helping others constantly. Handsome so handsome. My favourite film is the movie made in 1979 where you still the horse. I was pregnant with my identical twin daughters and my brother took me to this movie. Excellent movie and memories. My favourite Robert and horses. Excellent director. Your appearance on Perry Mason as a spoiled brat grownup.
