Bobby Rigney and I lived nextdoor to each other on Ashland Ave, River Forest Il our entire childhood. His sister, Margo was my best friend and as I recall he never paid much attention to me...two years younger.
I do have a lifetime regret, however. Back in the early seventies, my husband and I took our two young daughters to Disneyland in Orlando and walking around the grounds I spied a familiar face...we looked at each other in mutual recognition, paused and moved on. Think we were both uncertain and maybe embarrassed it was mistaken identity. Always wished I had pursued this encounter.
So happy to learn Bobby had a successful and adventurous life and loving family.

I have known Bob Rigney for over 75 years and loved all the times I was with him. My most interesting friend

We first met in the Cuckoo´s Nest in Berlin (the crew room, locker room, mail room, and etc-room). Then, over the 14 years we shared in Berlin I had the pleasure of frequent encounters with him, both there and at PanAm parties, and at his and Hansi´s apartment or at our house. Bob and I shared jokes and I laughed at many new ones from him. I was not the only one who was always smiling after a few words with him. Like our employer, he´s " gone but not forgotten ", and missed by all who knew him. And I´m sure he´s now charming his new associates in heaven.
My deepest sympathies, Hansi; I know how Jan´s death hit me and time is very slow to heal.

I was most fortunate to meet Bob during my years as Director of Alumni and Development at his beloved Fenwick High School. As this obit describes, Bob was gregarious, funny, friendly, and most importantly, loyal to virtually everyone he met, including unworthy folks like me. I am honored to have called him friend, wish all the very best to his beautiful wife Hansi and their family, and know right now Bob is regaling God with stories. May this wonderful man rest in peace. He will be missed.
