Bob is forever missed and never forgotten. He was a great mentor and friend to me. May Bob's family and friends find continued peace, love, and cherish all the special memories.

Bobby, as I called him, was a neighbor, a classmate from Kindergarten, and good friends until we graduated. I was so glad to reconnect with him this past few years. His dad and my dad were best "buds" as Bob said. His mother was such a lady and also his grandmother. She gave me a beautiful vase for a wedding present over 45 years ago that I still have. I already miss you, and I hope that you are having a wonderful time in heaven. Angela Ragan Sloan....Tavares Florida and Ringgold Georgia

Had not seen Bob since 1965, but have never forgotten him. He was a very special person and, some may know and some may not know, he was a compassionate person even at a young age. Rest in peace old friend.

I was saddened to hear of Bob's passing. Family members, I pray that Jesus will provide you with guidance, comfort, and strength. I will always remember the cartoons and funny sayings that Bob had display at his cubicle's entrance; there was always something there that I would find amusing. And once I entered Bob's cubicle, he always had a I can take care of that attitude, regarding any project issue I had. I am going to miss Bob, his cartoons, and his help. Bob, God Bless.

Bob was a dear friend of mine for over 60 years. We grew up together and had a wonderful friendship. When we were little boys we did everything together from fishing, swimming, football, double dating, riding bikes, playing football etc. I will never ever forget Bob Roof. And until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand. Your best friend Howard Satin

Semper Fi Leatherneck!
While we will most assuredly miss your smile, laughter (and occasional grumble) and physical presence, be assured your friendship, seemingly limitless knowledge and razor sharp humor will always be with us.
With this in mind,
"When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar."

Wishing family and friends can provide each other the strength and courage needed for peace and comfort.
Bob has always been a wonderful co-worker, too many years for me to count know, as I knew him during my military days. We would visit job sites together, discuss projects, or just have discussions. I would always tease him that I always knew when he was going to be on leave/vacation, because he would always bombard me with work. Most recently, Bob had been there for me during my difficult family challenges.
Memories last forever, hold them close to your hears. May they help comfort you for all your tomorrows. Diana L. Brown (Eglin AFB, FL)

Working with Bob over the years I learned quickly that this man had a great deal of knowledge on airfield pavements. He made my job a lot easier. Thanks for everything Bob....and God Bless.

I will certainly carry fond memories of Bob with me. Working with him for about eight years, I came to respect and admire him as my friend. May God bless and comfort his family, whom I know he loved dearly! Semper Fi, Bob! May you have Peace in the Lord's care!

Bob was my friend and my mentor who freely shared his years of experience as well as his humor. I heard it said one time, ..."Do not be sad that he is gone but instead, be happy that he was here"... God bless you my friend.

We never know the number of our days on this side of heaven. I know that while Bob might have, on a few occasions, preferred to spend some time as a "traveling retired engineer", HE WAS A MARINE, and felt he needed to continue to serve his country here with us in the 96th Civil Engineer Group, Engineering Division at Eglin AFB. ...Kudo's to our "Commando Engineer" friend Bob Roof!!! ...He fought the good fight, carried the flag for as long as he could, and is now in the midst of a "mega family reunion" with many of his fellow Marines, other service members, friends, and relatives that had preceded him on the "required journey" to the other side. ...Semper Fi, Semper Fi, Semper Fi!!! (...Always faithful and always loyal!!!) {Special Note to Bob: "We will miss you my friend, and were certainly blessed having known and served with you! May God bless your soul and your family members forever!!!"}
Very Respectfully,
John K. Carruth, Retired Deputy Base Civil Engineer, 1st Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron, Hurlburt Fld; and Fellow Programmer and friend with 96th CEG/CENPD, Eglin AFB.

I had the pleasure of knowing Bobby since kindergarten. He was a quiet gentle man Who respected and loved everyone. He was quietly one of the most gifted athletes in our class and a good student. Always there to help his fellow students. He was proud to take the oath, a lifelong oath, to defend and protect the Constitution of United States. Semper Fi my brother.
