ROBERT S. ROSS Jr.

'OSS ROBERT SWAIN ROSS, JR. Died at his home in Washington, D.C. of a heart attack on September 30, 2013. Robin, as he was known to his family and friends, was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, on March 27, 1944, the son of Janet and Robert Swain Ross. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Louise P. Ross, his daughter, Jennifer McNulty, his son, Robert Swain Ross, III, and five grandchildren: Elizabeth and Louise McNulty, and Robert, Max, and AJ Ross. He also is survived by his brothers Thomas Eliot Ross and Lewis Christian Ross and numerous nieces and nephews. After graduation from St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire, in 1962, Robin attended Princeton University, graduating from there in 1966. He served in the United States National Guard and received his law degree from Temple University in 1970. Robin began his legal career in New York City. Leaving private practice in 1979, he joined the administration of Pennsylvania Governor Dick Thornburgh. Subsequently, he served as Chief of Staff to Attorney General Thornburgh during the administration of President George H. W. Bush. After leaving government service in 1992, Robin returned to the practice of law, where his broad experience and sound judgment became the basis of a successful legal and government relations practice in Washington and in his native Pennsylvania. Robin was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He also was a loyal and devoted friend. His loss is mourned by his family and all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013, at Christ Church Georgetown, 3116 O Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20007.
