Robert B. Saba, 82, of Hampton Township, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Mona Asfour Saba; father of Naila (Gary) Busacca, Michael (Jill) Saba and Philip (Yvette) Saba; grandfather of Madeleine and Allison Busacca, Braden, Bryce and Gianna Saba; and brother of Salih (Cindy) Saba, of California. Robert was born in Jerusalem, attended St. George's School and received a BA/BS in civil engineering from the American University of Beirut Lebanon. He received an M.A. in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he earned many honors and awards. Robert served in managerial and executive positions with the American Concrete Pipe Association, U.S. Steel Chemicals, USS Engineers and Consultants, Pullman Swindell, U.S. Constructors and operated his own consulting firm in technology transfer and business development for many years. Later, he became a business development specialist with the Mid-Atlantic Technology Applications Center (MTAC), one of NASA's then six Regional Technology Transfer Centers. He was awarded the Federal Laboratory Consortium 2000 Outstanding Service Award for Technology Transfer. Later, he beame the coordinator of the Fire Fighting Task Force located in Worcester, Mass. He was hired as a consultant to FirstLink, a Department of Defense National Center of Excellence for First Responder Technology Transition. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, North Hills, Pittsburgh, since 1964 where he served on the vestry as junior and later senior warden. He was also a member of Wildwood Golf Club since 1965 where he participated in tennis, golf and swimming. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Christ Episcopal Church, 5910 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church.
