Robert R. Sawhill Jr.

SAWHILL ROBERT R., JR.
Of Jacksonville, FL passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at age 78. Robert was a retired Air Force Colonel who served in the Vietnam War and was a Prisoner of War for five and a half years. He received the Purple Heart and numerous other awards including the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Bronze Star. He also received numerous commendations for service and leadership. A memorial service is scheduled at Nativity Episcopal Church in Crafton, PA on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. He was a native of Carnegie, graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and received his commission into the U. S. Air Force upon completion of the ROTC program. Robert enjoyed playing golf and traveling to visit friends and family. He is survived by his wife Ronda Garrison Sawhill and sister Phyllis S. Janocha (Carnegie, PA), and brothers David L. Sawhill (Philadelphia, PA), and John D. Sawhill (Port Orange, FL). In addition to his immediate family, he was the loving uncle to Karen L. Walker, Frank J. Janocha, Jr., Priscilla A. Hagan, Stephen R. Janocha, and Amy J. Janocha. Also Alison L. Sawhill, Chri stopher S. Sawhill, Dr. Kathryn A. Sawhill, David L. Sawhill, Jr., James K. Sawhill (deceased) and Alexander R. Sawhill (deceased). In lieu of flowers, donations to the McGraw Community Hospice at 4266 Sunbeam Rd.
