Robert Sears Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 21 to Nov. 28, 2023.
Robert (Bob) William Sears went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 27th in the arms of his beloved wife, Carolyn Sears.

As Carolyn tells it, "67 years ago this month, I married my Aggie sweetheart, my friend, my soulmate, the love of my life. We were introduced on June 14, 1952, my fourteenth birthday. Little did we know that was the first day of the rest of our lives!

I honor him for the man he became - the spiritual leader of our family. A man who loved first the Lord, then his family, the church, his country, his fifty plus years in the oil patch, and last but not least, Texas A&M University and all Aggie sports."

"Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it." Psalms 127:1

Robert was born on July 29, 1934, in Dubuque, Iowa, to William Valentine Sears and Margaret Selena Trepte. He graduated from Reagan High School in Houston in 1952 and from Texas A&M University in 1956. Before embarking on his life work in the oil field, he spent three years in the U.S Air Force.

Robert is survived by his wife, Carolyn Schneider Sears, and his sons Kyle Sears (and his wife Debra) and Craig Sears, along with three grandchildren and one great-grandchild (Rebecca Sears, Hannah Sears, and Jeremy Sears, his wife Janette, and their son, Gavin). He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Diane Schneider, niece, Terri Tharp (and her husband John), and his nephew, Cecil Brooks (and his wife Suzanne), along with a wealth of great nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Parsley.

Robert and Carolyn enjoyed an adventurous life together, from Baytown and then to Stavanger, Norway, followed by a stint in London and their last overseas assignment in Aberdeen, Scotland. They moved back to Houston in 1995. Wherever they lived, they were active in their church, the expat community, and the culture of the country they temporarily called home.

At their last stop together at the Eagle's Trace community in west Houston, they continued to serve. Robert enjoyed making new friends as well as continuing his relationships with his Reagan High School and Aggie friends, as well as their Second Baptist Bible study group.

A memorial service will be held on November 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway. In lieu of flowers, there are two organizations that were near and dear to Robert's heart. Please send Memorial Gifts to the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets Association at 1134 Finfeather Road, Bryan, TX 77803 or online at corpsofcadets.org under giving, in memory of Bob Sears '56. The second organization Robert cherished was Youth-Reach Houston. Gifts may be sent to Youth-Reach Houston, PO Box 9631, Houston, TX 77213 or online at www.youthreachhouston.org, in Memory of Robert Sears in the comment line.

Condolences may be posted to https://obituaries.neptunesociety.com/obituaries/11522124. For those who are unable to attend, the following is a live stream link to the service: http://www.second.org/liveevents.
