Robert Seibel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 16, 2021.
Robert (Bob) Vedder Seibel, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at LECOM Senior Living Center. He was born in Erie on January 15, 1933, the son of the late Elmer and Edith Vedder Seibel, and passed two weeks to the day after the death of Lella, his dear wife of 66 years. Even as his own health declined, Bob's primary concern was caring for Lella.

Bob served in the U.S. Army, and was a proud graduate of Penn State. He was a chemical engineer who earned his Professional Engineer designation during his career, which began at Babcock and Wilcox, and continued for decades at Zurn Industries. He achieved numerous accomplishments and accolades during his career. Bob continued to consult on a variety of engineering projects after his formal retirement. He and his wife were active tennis and hockey fans, in addition to cheering for both the Browns and Indians. Bob and Lella were active in the Erie Otters Fan Club and Country Countdown Dancers. Bob and Lella were long time members of First United Methodist Church in Erie.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a sister, Cynthia Cray (Edgar).

Survivors include his sons Bob (Margie) and Rick (Colleen); seven grandchildren, Erin Pickersgill, Kyle Seibel, Nicholas Seibel, Dana Tischler, Jeffrey Rose Seibel, Connor Seibel, and Beau Seibel; and four great-grandchildren, Liberty, Isabel, Frances, and Cora.

Funeral services and burial will be private for the family. To follow the live stream funeral service on our Facebook page, please visit https://fb.me/e/1VFocssG3 at 12:55 p.m. on Wednesday.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.

My sympathy to the family if Bob and Lella we were neighbors on Gardner Drive. They were wonderful neighbors. Lella taught Heather and Aaron to swim.
My husband Ray passed away in 2020. I know the loss if a spouse is very difficult.
God Bless you all.

Bob was a classmate of mine at strong Vincent class of 1950. He was an excellent student and a fine gentleman. He attended all our class reunion and we reminisced . My condolences to his family.

To Bob's family we offer sincere condolences. God willing Bob and Lella are now united again; this time, healthy and whole. We will always remember Bob's easy demeanor and fun times with the Countdown dancers. May he be resting in the arms of Jesus as I write this. God Bless, Dee and David Willkinson
