Services for Robert Charles "Sib" Sibley, 75, of Tyler will be on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Luna officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Sibley passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, and is now resting in the arms of his Lord and Savior.
He was born July 4, 1937, in Nederland to William C. and Mayme Harrison Sibley.
Sib had been a member of Pollard United Methodist Church since 1967. He graduated from Nederland High School in 1955 and from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in science.
Sib was a pharmaceutical sales representative for 20 years where he received numerous awards. He also was an independent insurance agent for more than 25 years before retiring in 2011. He loved his family, grandchildren, friends, his farm and his cattle. He enjoyed the camaraderie of hunting with friends, but preferred to not actually shoot anything.
Sib was a person who loved life and considered everyone a friend. He was best known for his sense of humor and always had an unending supply of funny jokes and stories. He accumulated these stories over a lifetime shared with interesting friends, loving family and amazing characters.
Sib had a big heart and was always ready to help those in need, whether friends in a tight spot or a complete stranger needing a helping hand. He was a man of character who will be sorely missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know him.
In addition to his parents, Sib was preceded in death by son, Wade Sibley, and sister, Dorothy Sibley Greene.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 53 years, Lawana Harper Sibley, of Tyler; daughters, Sally Bridges and husband Jim, of Prosper, and Jill Riggs and husband Mark, of Henderson; five grandchildren, Cameron Sibley and Abigail Grace Bridges, of Prosper, Steven Lance Burt, of Longview, Randy Warren Burt, of Victoria, and David Glenn Burt, of Lindale; stepgrandchildren, Kyle Riggs and wife Jessica, Jessica Pierson and husband Jason, all of Kilgore; brothers, Tyrus Sibley and wife Sue, Don Sibley and wife Dot, all of Shreveport, La., Joe Sibley and wife Darlene, of Paris, Calif., and Richard Sibley and wife Charlotte and Glenn Sibley, all of Nederland.
Pallbearers will be David Burt, Cameron Bridges, Steven Burt, Randy Burt, Cecil Roach and Vince Clark.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2013, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
