Robert Slover Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 3, 2025.
Robert (Bob) Augustus Slover took his final trip to the otherside on December 28, 2024 passing peacefully in the company of loved ones. He was 74 years old. Born on July 2, 1950 in Trenton, New Jersey to his parents Robert H. Slover and Ann (LeBras) Slover. Bob is the third of five children. He graduated from St. Anthony's High School in 1968. Bob can be remembered for his time playing basketball while in attendance.

After leaving high school, and a brief stint in college, Bob became a prolific traveller to Central America. For those of us who have been lucky enough to hear the stories from this time, he most certainly lived a fascinating life filled with adventure, spontaneity and some luck! He settled down for some time in Maine and landed in Florida permanently in the 90's.

For the past 34 years, Bob has been "Keeping Brevard Beautiful" running Bob Slover's Tree Service. He took such pride in the work he did. He cared for his customers deeply - often giving cakes to them over the holidays to express his gratitude. There was no job too big or too small.

Bob will be remembered as a gentle, quiet man. A decent guy as he put it himself. Bob was kind, generous, non-judgmental and always the first to help someone in need or down on their luck. He was stoic and stubborn.

He was a great father, friend, brother and uncle.

Bob is survived by his two children Matthew Slover and Marina Slover, his sister Leslie Slover and nephew Russell Slover.

He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Paul Slover and his beloved Kathleen Kersey.

Just heard about Bobby. I dated and knew him in college. He was always incredibly handsome and sweet. We lost touch over the years, going our separate ways. Interesting to hear he traveled through Central America as I did too and lived in South America. My heart condolences to the family. May the Lord comfort you all.

My husband & I are so sad to hear of Bob's passing. We were friends with him in college. Actually the day of our wedding he was thumbing to our reception and we picked him up in our limo. He was handsome, funny & kind. Our thoughts & prayers go out to his family & friends.

In all our years at SAHS, he and I had only one class together. He sat right behind me. I always like to see him. He had a great smile. And I did love watching him play basketball on Friday nights. He was so good!

Saddened to learn about Bobby's passing. He was my teammate at SA. Yes he was always supportive and I have several memories of our playing years. We had some fun times on the sandlot courts, he and his buddies always traveling around looking for a game. Once a basketball player, always a basketball player.

Sorry to hear about Bob. I was very close to `Slov´ growing up. We played on Youth basketball teams in the Trenton PAL and CYO leagues as well as the freshman, JV and varsity teams at St. Anthony´s High School.
I did see Bob a few times over the years when he was back in the Trenton area visiting. Always had a great time and enjoyed his stories about his travels.
My condolences to Bob´s family.

I haven´t seen Bob since high school. He was a good friend, great basketball player. Not surprised he was a world traveler. RIP Slove

Bobby was exactly how his obituary read.
He was kind and quiet and always had a smile for you. Not surprised that he was a traveler and visited so many places in Central America. That would be Bobby!!
So sad of his passing. Offering my sincere sympathy and condolences to his children and his family and friends

I remember Bob, from all our years at St. Anthony's schools. He was tall & quiet, handsome & friendly. He had class and I never heard him speak ill of anyone. Greatly into basketball. My condolences to his family and friends. May he R.I.P.

I'm so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I went all through school with him from St. Anthony's Grammar School through graduation at St. Anthony's High School. He was a great guy, and a great basketball player. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
