ROBERT SMITH
AGE: 81 AVENEL
Robert Smith, age 81, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at Madison Care Center in Old Bridge. Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in Avenel for many years.
He was a contractor in the area for many years.
He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sandy Smith, in 1993.
He was the cherished father of Robert Smith Jr. of Perth Amboy, Denise Smith, David Smith of Howell, and Terry Smith of Keyport. He was the brother of Tom Sawyer of Metuchen and Virginia Ottaviano of Neptune. He was the grandfather of David Smith Jr., Sean Smith, Dillion Smith, Stacy De Rasmi and Melanie De Rasmi.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Zylka Funeral Home, 513-515 State St., Perth Amboy. Cremation service will be private. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the David Smith family.
