Age 82, of Ben Avon, died peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2013. Robert A. Somerhalder, beloved companion of Trudy File of Ben Avon. Born on September 1, 1930 to the late Alfred R. Somerhalder and Dorothy Sullivan McKeone and was preceded in death by wife, Judith Lippert Somerhalder. Also survived by one brother, Jack (Arlene) Somerhalder; sister, Patricia McKeone; close cousin, Ann Somerhalder Dobson; and sons and daughters, Lisa George (Phillip), Scott, Karen, Robert, their children and grandchildren, and the mother of his children, Gloria Somerhalder. Bob was a graduate of Westinghouse High School and the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering. Most of his career was spent in the design and installation of rolling steel mills all over the world for United/Wean Engineering. He was a proud Marine who served in Korea and played trumpet in a Marine Band. Bob had a profound love of music and performed with the Glenshaw Players in his early years and most recently sang in the choir at Assumption Church in Bellevue. He enjoyed theater, concerts, the opera, reading, and walking his Shelties. The family is sincerely grateful to the staffs at Sunrise of McCandless, and Wexford House for their care and compassion. Following his wishes, there will be no visitation. Family and friends will gather at a later date to celebrate Bob's life. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, P.O.
