So many wonderful memories. Once in Alaska at a CWAG Conference I remember Bob being attacked by the state birds (mosquitos). What a generous spirit. Frankie Sue DelPapa, former NV AG

Oh Bob - I can hear the joy and laughter from above as you move on to better places. Remembering back of the many places, trips, meetings we shared, you always found a way to shine a bright light on some-time tough conversations! And thank you and your good wife for helping my family members as they settled into Kansas City for work at Target! Carry on, good friend!

So many memories of Bob Stephan. He reached out to people of diverse views and had an uncanny ability to connect and stay connected. When I worked at the AG Association and he was newly elected Attorney General, I met him for the first time. His first question: do you have any information relating to how to how to shut down an anti-semitic radio station that is spewing hate all over Kansas. I worked with Bob on many issues over the year and learned a lot in the process. Know that we all miss him, his great sense of humor that somehow evened everything out, and his strong sense of mission and justice.

Bob and I served as AG's at the same time and I can never forget one rainy evening in Washington, D.C. when we visited the Lincoln Memorial. And not withstanding the words of his favorite song, he really was humble in all the important ways. Jim Tierney. AG of Maine (1980-1990)

When I assumed office as Attorney General of Delaware in 1979 - together with Bob- I began a lifelong friendship with Bob and built a book of memories of him and our lives in NAAG. His intellect was only overshadowed by his sharp and ready wit. Anne and I send our thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones who were blessed by having Bob in their lives.

Richard Wier. Delaware Attorney General 1975-1979.

Bob Stephan was a great Attorney General and human being. I first met Bob when I joined the National Association of Attorneys General, after being elected Attorney General of Louisiana. Bob took me under his wing immediately and provided me with much wise counsel on how to be a successful Attorney General. I greatly admired his intelligence, his dedication to duty and his genuine love and compassion for others. He and his beautiful wife, Marilynn , became personal friends of me and my wife. We send our deepest condolences to Marilynn and Bob's family. Eternal rest grant unto him, Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

Bob Stephan´s strong spirit and energy was a great benefit to the world, to the people of Kansas and to the National Association of Attorneys General during his years in public service. We could always depend on Bob speaking up to advocate the public interest and, often with a humorous reference, to remind us of our common humanity. To Marilyn and the family, I send my sincerest sympathy for your loss. Surely his soul will be lovingly embraced God.

The world has lost a great person. Bob Stephan was a sincere, thoughtful, kind, decent, fun loving man. As a public official he was dedicated, hard working, accomplished, independent, always ready to do justice and a fighter for the little guy. I consider it a high privilege to say that he was my friend.
We both took office as attorney general of our respective states Bob from Kansas and myself from New York at the same time in 1979. We worked together for years and traveled the world together.
He had a big heart and a strong social conscience.
He cared about people and spent a lifetime doing things to help others and improve their lives.
My heart goes out to Marilyn and his family. May he rest in peace and his soul be bound in eternity.
Bob Abrams Attorney General of New York 1979-93

Bob was wonderful supporter and friend to me. In my most important election for BOCC chair he broke from the OP power group to be one of my chairs. Later as chair I established the Criminal Justice Commission to advance restorative justice etc. Bob agreed to chair it and I´m sure that had a lot to do with it's success. He had a great since of humor as well mentoring me. He had his own style and was one of a kind. May you Rest In Peace Bob. Gods blessings to Marlyln and all the family
