Robert L. "Bob" Stringer, Sr., age 57 and a resident of Gulfport, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, in Gulfport.
Mr. Stringer was a native of Laurel, MS, and served in the U. S. Army Reserve. He was a member of American Legion Post 11, Laurel, MS, and a member of the 40 et 8 Honor Society of the American Legion. He was a member of the Elks Club in Laurel; a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Laurel; and was owner of Bob's Discount Beer and Tobacco in Gulfport.
Mr. Stringer was preceded in death by his father, Adolphe C. Stringer; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Bateman, and Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Stringer. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Stringer; mother, Frances B. Stringer; son, Robert L. Stringer Jr., and his wife, Lisa; daughter, Shianne Lynette Stringer; and grandchildren, Alise Stringer and Gannon Stringer, all of Gulfport.
Visitation will be at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, US Hwy 49 N. in Gulfport, on Friday, April 2, 2004, from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home and go to Finley Cemetery in Harrison County for the graveside service at 2:00 p.m.
The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Sq., Gulfport, MS 39507.
