Robert Strobo Obituary

Published by Chicago Tribune on Dec. 18, 2018.
Robert (Bob) F. Strobo, age 66, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Mary, his father, Joseph, and his son, Keith. He is survived by his wife Lucy; his children, Robert (Robyn, children Ella and Violet), Randy (Emily, children Frank and Reid), Kevin (Ashley, children Kingston and Abrayah), and Lindsey (Christopher, children Leia and Otis); his sister Sharon; his brother Joey; extended family; and friends far and wide. Bob was born on January 16, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Mendel Catholic Prep School in 1970. Shortly after high school, he entered the Army Reserves and served as a field wireman after being called for active duty. He had a lifetime career in computer technology, most recently employed at Republic Bank & Trust Company. Bob was happily married to Lucy Strobo (Dicke) for 45 years. Together they had five children and eight grandchildren. He was a proud father and grandfather who never missed a game or birthday party. Bob was always there to help his children with their latest home improvement project, give rides to the airport, or hand out candy and presents to his grandchildren. He spent all his free time doing projects around the house with Lucy, watching Bears football, and with his grandchildren. Up to the date of his death, Bob was hardworking and dedicated to his family. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 2:00pm to 8:00pm at the Ratterman Funeral Home located at 12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kentucky Humane Society, online or 1000 Lyndon Lane Suite B, Louisville, KY 40222; or the Arrow Fund, P.O. Box 1127 Prospect, KY 40059-9031.

I never met Bob in person but considered him a true friend. He would message me often to be sure I was doing OK and always encouraged me to stay strong and be happy and smile. He blessed so many people and he loved his wife, children and grandchildren so much.

Bob was a true friend. We didn't have to see or talk to one another on a regular basis, but knew we were there for each other if we needed it. I've know him, Lucy and his children for a long time. He was always about his family and it showed in everything he did. I feel blessed to have him as a friend. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to Lucy, Robby, Randy, Kevin and Lindsey and the rest of the family. I was lucky to know him and will never forget him. Skip

I am so sorry for your loss. Bob always had a smile on his face when you saw him. He would stop by my desk to get some M & Ms or other candy that I had. He always said hello and it's only me when he got the candy. He would always come by my desk to say goodbye, have a nice night. and see you tomorrow when he was leaving for the day. When I needed help with my computer, he was the one I went to. I will miss him a lot. May God be with you during this time of sorrow. I will keep you in my prayers.

My deepest of sympathy to Bob's wife and family. A wonderful man that helped me thru all those "idiot" moments on the computer here at Republic Bank and made sure my pup Ollie was on my screen for me to see all day long!! I am in Florida and he has been a part of our team all these years with anything that needed to be handled. Always kind, always a gentle soul to talk with. I can only imagine the pain and sorrow your family is going thru. Bob will now be protecting his family from above and always your angel in the all the days ahead. Sending hugs and my deepest of sympathy.
