Robert Stephen Tausend, MD

1955 - 2021

On Friday, January 1, 2021, beloved doctor, husband, and father, Robert "Bob" Stephen Tausend, MD passed away unexpectedly at the age of 65. Dr. Tausend was born on May 14, 1955, in Houston, Texas to Paul and Ruby Tausend.

He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1973 and attended the University of Texas at Austin prior to his admission into medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. While in medical school he met his future wife, Rhonda Luna. They were married in June of 1979 in her hometown of Athens, Texas. He completed his residency in dermatology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1983. Upon completion of his medical training, he returned to Pasadena. Dr. Tausend founded Bayshore Dermatology Clinic and opened his dermatology practice in the same building his father, Paul Tausend, MD practiced family medicine. He practiced dermatology in the same location for 36 years, providing care for thousands of patients and continuing a family legacy in that location. He was excited to add his son William to the practice in 2018. Throughout his career, he served in leadership positions for Bayshore Medical Center, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Houston Dermatological Society. He was a longstanding member of the American Academy of Dermatology.

During the early years of his practice, he became a father to his sons, Stephen and William. As they grew, he enjoyed the opportunity to coach them during their ball-playing years. Dr. Tausend was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 41years, Rhonda Tausend of Houston, TX, two sons, Stephen Tausend of Washington, D.C., and William and wife Melissa of Houston, TX, grandchildren Nolan and Ruby Tausend; siblings Patty and Marco Pardi, Tom and Lucy Tausend, Martha and Larry Jensen, Susie and Jack Hailes, brother-in-law Charles Luna and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Ruby Tausend, Betty and Charles Luna, and sister-in-law Sheila Luna.
