Robert J. Tietz, 94, formerly of Niles and Park Ridge, passed away June 12th, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Lorraine (nee Hackett). Loving father of Bob(Joy), Tom(Linda), and Jerry(Jacqui); dearest grandfather of Monica (Mark) Levy, Tom, Sarah, Ben, and Libby and great-grandfather of Adam, Jesse, and Tyler Levy; dear brother of the late Ellen(Ed) Faulhaber and the late Frank(Jean); and uncle of several fond nieces and nephews. Bob was an avid basketball player, playing four years at Loyola University from 1939-1943. After college, Bob joined the Army and served overseas during World War II, earning a Purple Heart medal while fighting in France in 1944. Bob married Lorraine in 1950 and they raised their sons in Niles, IL where he was an active parishioner of St. John Brebeuf Parish. Bob worked for Graybar Electric in Melrose Park for 30 years. Visitation at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 18, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities, 721 N. Lasalle St., Chicago,IL, 60654 (www.catholiccharities.net/donate) in Robert's name.
