Robert J. "Bob" Tollerud

Robert 'Bob' J. Tollerud, age 63, of Cloquet, Minn., left this world on Friday, September 12, 2003, after a 16 day battle trying to survive an aneurysm. Bob was born April 6, 1940, in Superior, Wis., to Ralph and Kathryn Jacksha) Tollerud and moved to Duluth when he was in the sixth grade. He sailed on the great lakes for many years, until he was united in marriage to Judy, and then moved to Cloquet. He worked as a supervisor at Diamond Brands until his retirement in January of 2002. Bob was a happy man, a jokester, and always enjoyed giving people nicknames. He was kind and loving, a history buff, master cribbage player, and a storyteller who knew everyone. Bob was the kind of person you just wanted to be around. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. The 'Tollerud Taxi' service was always going to soccer, basketball, hockey games and practices, etc. Bob liked to get away, too. He took many ice fishing trips to Lake of the Woods every winter, and he golfed in the summer. He was a well-known athlete in this area, graduating from Denfeld in 1958. He played basketball at UMD and in the army. Bob loved watching youth sports especially when his grandchildren were playing. He was an Army Veteran; a member of the Cloquet Country Club and Queen of Peace Catholic Church, and a friend to the Alano Society. He will be sadly missed by all. Bob was preceded in death by his son Patrick; his parents, Ralph and Kathryn Tollerud; his in-laws, Floyd and Bessie Clark;and other relatives. He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Mark (Shari) Tollerud, Kathy (Steve) Sajdak and Robin Tollerud and soon to be son-in-law Mike Washenesky all of Cloquet; grandchildren, Brooke, Jordan, Ryan, Tyler, Connor Luke, Maria and Mitchell; his brother, Richard Tollerud of Woodbury, Minn.; and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. VISITATION:5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2003 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet, celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Joseph Sirba. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Cloquet with military honors accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.
