Robert Lawrence Turner, age 80, resident of Rossville, Tennessee and husband of Joyce Turner, departed this life Friday morning, January 12, 2024 at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, Tennessee.
Robert was born January 6, 1944 in Memphis, the son of the late Hosie Lawrence Turner and Alma Henry Turner. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and later joined the United States Air Force where he was an aircraft mechanic and became an instrumentation instructor. Robert received his associate degree in electronics and was employed as an electronic technician for Smith & Nephew for 17 years before his retirement in 2006. He attended Collierville Pentecostal Church playing guitar, chess, working with flowers and special times with his family.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Joyce Turner of Rossville, TN; his daughter, Alma Walker of Daytona Beach, FL; two sons, Albert Turner of Daytona Beach, FL and Hosie Turner of Ocala, FL; and his sister, Betty Anne Cotham of Lady Lake, FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Jo Hardin, Juanita Haley and Corrine Cherry and two brothers, Clarence Turner and Bennie Turner.
Funeral Services for Mr. Turner were held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Collierville First Pentecostal Church. Interment with Military Honors will be at 1 P.M. Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3150 Lenox Park Boulevard, Suite 402, Memphis, TN 38115.
