Robert Cleveland Turrentine

Perhaps the nicest thing that I can say about Bob is that I still think about him and that I still miss him. I'm guessing that I always will. On a lighter note, hope that y'all are doing ok.

It's hard to believe that it has been this long, but I can promise you that people at Mt. Bethel still remember your parents. Actually, a lady last Sunday asked me about them, even though she couldn't remember their names. The crew that used to sit around us still asks me about "Bob" stories, as he was a great story teller. I remember telling him one Sunday that he had been elected Mayor of our pew, and he said that he was calling for a recount, and if that didn't work, he would refuse to serve. I also remember the story about the plane going down with him in it, although I know that experience became a burden later in life.
Perhaps the best tribute that a person can have is that people remember them after they are gone. I can promise you that is happening at Church, and I can also promise you that I will remember them forever.

I can't even begin to tell you the mixed emotions I had when I heard about your parnets deaths. There are still people who come up to me at church and ask how the nice man that sat with me is doing. They didn't even know his name but they sure remember how he interacted with them, and it was all positive. I can tell you that my years as his "pew brother" will always be remembered and cherished. Seeing your parents coming into the sanctuary always put a smile on the faces of the dozen or so of us who gathered there. One thing that Bob and I always discussed was politics, as we both leaned heavily to the right.
Bob was also a good story teller, and I always passed his stories along, to everyones delight.
Additionally,Bob was also a smart man, and I used to tell him that I thought that my IQ went up 5 points just from sitting next to him, and his comment was always the same--"then you need to get out more".

I want you to know that your Mother was just as good a person, but my interaction was primarily with Bob.

Let me end by saying that I will ALWAYS remember Bob, and to me, that's about the nicest thing you can say about someone.

Bob was a wonderful person to work for. I started working at Original Brand Foods in 1990 and had no experience whatsoever in the Food industry. I am ever grateful for what I learned there. It was as wonderful place to work and was truly like a family.

Bob truly did model a life of giving. My sincerest condolences to your family on your loss.

Richard & Family - you know that I had the utmost respect for your father. He was kind, smart and had high integrity. He was the rare businessman who knew how to treat people right and make a profit. He had a long life and I wish you all the best with his passing.

Bob and Imogene never missed an opportunity to share their lives with others and were true Christians. I am so thankful for the time I had with them as a teen at Sango.

Rest gently in the everlasting arms, Mr. (and Mrs.)Turrentine. Remembering our many happy years as your neighbors just down the street in Clarksville. Condolences to Carol and all the family.

My story is just one of many as I know Bob impacted many,many lives.....as he did mine. I had many mentors/role models in my life, but three stand out. My Dad (who was much like Bob) was my greatest mentor/role model. #2 was a college baseball coach that made me grow from a young boy to a man. And #3 was Bob Turrentine. Bob and Richard hired me at Original Brand Foods in 1995 after I had made some mistakes and bad personal choices in my life. They took a chance on me. The chance they took was reason alone to always be indebted to Bob & Richard, but the story doesn't end there.......it only begins. Those years were some of the best of my life and I learned so much from Bob, certainly about business but more importantly about life and family. Bob had it all.......smarts, wit & humor, class, compassion, faith, love of family, strong work ethic, etc, etc...... I wanted that and he showed the way!! I love that man!!! I'm sure stories like this one are retold many times over to Bob's family members.........but I suspect they never get old so I wanted to tell you mine.

Mr Turentine was a wonderful person I worked for him in the office and switch board at Acme. He treated all of the employees with love and respect. This man lived a true life for God.
