TROY — Robert L. Walker, age 83, of Troy, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven when he went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2017 following a brief illness at Miami Valley Hospital.
He was born September 22, 1934 in Troy to the late Louis Ray and Nina (Wethington) Walker.
Bob is survived by his wife of 39½ years: Shirley (Drake) Walker; children: Alan (Sherri) Walker of Gallatin, TN, and Gina Jackson of Jupiter, FL; Stepson: Michael (Vicki) Bridges of Catawba, NC; sisters: Evelyn (Jim) Sturgeon of Urbana and Phyllis (Gerald) Hackett of Troy; sisters-in-law: Sandy (Larry) Webb of Troy and Sheila (Michael) McClure of Thomasville, NC; brother-in-law: Steve (Kristi) Drake of Troy; grandchildren: Torrence, Alex, Eric, Tyler, Alana, Tucker and Nicholas Walker and Zoe and Shea Murphy; step grandchildren: Caleb and Kara Bridges, Samuel, Nathanael, Isabella, Isaac, Johnny Bridges and Joshua Shampo and Katlin (Corbin) Chandler and Haley (AJ) Jenkins; great grandchild: Traven; step great grandchildren: Madilynn, Esther and Josiah; and many nieces, nephews and other in-laws.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Terry Walker; and two sisters: Norma Mothmiller and Betty Friend.
Bob was a 1952 graduate of Green Township School (now Fairlawn).
He was a member of Tipp City Church of the Nazarene, where he was a former member of the Sanctuary choir, and Troy Church of the Nazarene, where he taught Sunday School and was a previous board member.
Bob was previously employed at NCR and EF McDonald.
While he loved golfing and most sports, his real passion was witnessing to others about Christ's salvation and sanctification.
He was totally committed to serving his Lord and his desire was to be Christlike.
Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy and from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Thursday at the church. Celebration of Faith and Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Tipp City Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tipp City Church of the Nazarene Missions, 1221 West Main Street, Tipp City, OH 45371.
