There are few individuals whose appearance match their presence. For us as a family at SOCES, Principal Weinberg was a giant. He was a kind and gentle man with an always infectious smile. He was a memorable individual who helped make the school experience a safe and inclusive experience. He had presence and his impact and care lingers on.
Our condolences to all of his close family and friends.

Mr Weinberg, or as we called him Bob the Builder- was always building- relationships, spirit, and good character!
It is a big loss for his family and for the community.
A kind and gentle man- I remember one year, the kids would want to trick or treat at his house just to see him and of course, get some great candy!
Fondest memoroies and sincere condolences.

Bob really demonstrated to his staff that he cared about them and the students. He spent much of his time to politically advocate for SOCES and magnets

It was my privilege to know Bob Weinberg. I had the opportunity to witness his interactions with students, peers, parents, faculty/staff, community members and family. He spent a good part of his life working for the students in LAUSD. He engaged in the betterment of education for their benefit, fighting for the best for them. He was a passionate, dedicated man of honor who obviously loved what he did. He loved sports too. He laid down the foundation for the melding of athletics, academics and the arts at SOCES and always fought hard to awaken the inner essence in every individual.
I remember when we to a conference out of town. He sat me down and just started to talk about Nancy, his children and brothers. You could feel the love he had for them. He kept you updated too. As his family grew he shared stories about his granddaughter and again, you felt the warmth of his heart.
I remember so much about him, but most of all, I recall the selfless way in which he gave of his time. He was a beautiful man who genuinely liked and cared about you. He was there for good times and in bad times. People did not always agree with Bob on things but even when you disagreed with him you never once doubted his sincerity, his respect for you or for his love for the students at his school. He never professed to be perfect but strove tenaciously to inspire perfection in you. I hope someday to see SOCES honor him by naming their sports field after him. I envision him running around right now making some type of ruckus entertaining others and himself.
He nurtured generations of kids and adults. There is not a soul here who is not shocked, grieved and overcome with sorrow at Bob's passing.
I for one am very grateful that I had the opportunity of working with him and calling him my friend.
Sincere condolences to the entire Weinberg family. We all will miss him.
