Robert Leroy Wind

We are greatly saddened to announce the passing of Robert Leroy Wind, lovingly known as "Papa" to some of the grandchildren, passed away February 9, 2024, in Sun City, AZ. He was born on October 7, 1941, in Ottumwa, Iowa at the home of his Grandparents Charles and Florence Skinner. His parents were William Jay Wind who passed away on August 5, 2001, Viola Marie Wind, who passed away on February 6, 2014. His sister, Betty Lou Dukeman, passed away on February 27, 2023. Bob was married to Jenice Delene Burbank on December 7, 1963, until August 1972. He is survived by his two sons from this marriage Randall Lee Wind of Peoria and Ronald Jay Wind (Dena) of Mesa. Bob then married Diana Jean Ferguson on December 22, 1975, who survives him and their daughter Amy Wind of Peoria. He is also survived by seven grandkids Jessica Harney, Josh Wind and Bethany Wind - Randy's children, Branden Wind and Stephanie Parent- Ron's Children and Megan Gosda and Jacob Gosda - Amy's children, and fourteen great-grandkids. He is survived by his brother Richard Lee Wind of Phoenix.

Bob came to Phoenix in1959 with his family. Bob's work experience included that of a carry-out boy and A.J. Bayless and, Govway as well as working at Daniels Jewelry in Downtown Phoenix, Ryan-Evans Drug Stores as a warehouseman and delivery driver. In 1963 he began his career in the Information Technology field while employed at First National Life Insurance as a mail clerk. He later worked for the State of Arizona at the Industrial Commission then worked for Revlon Cosmetics for 32 years where he worked as a computer operator, supervisor, Operations Manager and Special Projects. He worked for Motorola at the SPS division and completed his work history working for the State of Arizona, AHCCCS from where he retired in 2007.

Bob's later years were spent living in Sun City, AZ and was a member of Arrowhead Fellowship in Peoria, AZ where he was very active. He was also a charter member of Phoenix Christian Life Center and attended there until it ceased to exist. He was also a member of Phoenix First Assembly, attended Rose Lane Assembly, At Calvary Church of God, Faith Chapel, and various other churches. He also had his own Christian television show he directed while attending Christian Life Center. He was a devout Christian.

A memorial service will be held on Friday March 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Church on The Green, 19051 North RH Johnson BLVD, Sun City, AZ. 85375. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers we are asking for donations for to OCJ Kids organization or to Church on The Green. We will be wearing blue in remembrance of Bob.
