Robert Martin Winterstein, Sr.
of BinghamtonRobert M. Winterstein, Sr., 81, of Binghamton, N.Y., passed on to his next life on Friday, May 3, 2002. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph H., Sr. and Helen (VanDorn) Winterstein; and his brothers, Richard (Web), Joseph, Jr. and Donald (Ike) Winterstein. Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Frances (Kudcey); and his three children and their families, Robert, Jr., Mary Evans and Robert III Winterstein; Mary, Jonathan and Courtney, Jason and Jeremy Dunlap; and Kathleen, Michael, Amanda and Benjamin Goldberg. In addition to an aunt, many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and close friends also survive him. Robert was a WWII Navy veteran and an IBM retiree with 34 years of service. He was also a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, Germania Mannerchor and St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson St., Binghamton on Sunday, May 5, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2002 at 10:15 a.m. at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc. and at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Chenango St., Binghamton, N.Y. with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willow Point Nursing Home Memorial Fund, 3700 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850, or to St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church. Our dad was a shining example of what it means to be a good person and the legacy he leaves is his love for his family and friends.
