Robert Wollack Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 8, 2025.
West Bloomfield Township - Robert Emerson "R.E." Wollack Jr., age 80, passed away on April 20, 2025, in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan. A visionary leader and devoted advocate for youth and families, Robert's life was marked by compassion, service, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.

Born on May 27, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, Robert was the son of Robert and Eloise Wollack. From his earliest years, he demonstrated a deep sense of purpose that would guide him throughout his life. After serving six years in the U.S. Army based in White Plains, New York, Robert pursued higher education with determination and focus. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti and went on to receive a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Robert dedicated his professional life to helping others. He was the founder and former President & CEO of Wolverine Human Services, an organization committed to supporting troubled youth and underprivileged children and families. His leadership transformed countless lives across Michigan and beyond. Known for his charismatic presence and passionate advocacy, Robert built a legacy rooted in love, forgiveness, redemption, and hope.

A devout Catholic who lived a life of service aligned with his faith, Robert embodied generosity and compassion. His work was not just a career-it was a calling that reflected his big-hearted nature and belief in the potential of every individual.

Robert's vibrant personality left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was intense yet down-to-earth; colorful yet deeply grounded; adventurous yet always present for those around him. Whether reading a good book by the beach or casting a line while fishing-two of his favorite pastimes-he found joy in both quiet reflection and spirited conversation. Dining with family and friends brought him happiness as he shared stories filled with wisdom and humor. And of course, he was a dedicated fan and donor who loved the Michigan Wolverines!

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Craig Wollack (Cheri), Angelique George (Sabarras), Robert Wollack III (Jeannie), Zachary Wollack, and Matthew Wollack (Jennifer). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Kierra Posey (DeVier), Cierra Wollack, Caleb Wollack (Tyler), Cassandra Wollack, Cole Wollack, Ashton George, Alexis Wollack, and Jack Wollack; as well as great-grandchildren: Drue Posey, Nile Posey, Rhys Posey, and Jordan Wollack.

Robert is also remembered by his siblings: Thomas Wollack, Virginia Wollack (John), Christine Avin, Maryanne Dabrowski (Stanley), and Charles Wollack. He now joins in eternal rest his parents Robert and Eloise Wollack; sisters Rosemarie Shapiro and Joanne Wollack.

Robert Emerson "R.E." Wollack Jr.'s remarkable journey serves as a powerful reminder of what one person can achieve through love-driven action. His memory will be forever treasured by family members whose lives he shaped with care; friends who were inspired by his passion; co-workers who admired his leadership; colleagues who respected his vision; and business associates who witnessed firsthand the impact of his mission. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him-and may we carry forward the light he so brightly shone into the world.

Dear Angelique and Family,

Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your father. He was a truly kind and remarkable man. We always cherished seeing him-especially when he would walk around the corner from Angelique´s home in Commerce Township, MI, to our house and stop by for a visit.. His presence brought such joy, and we truly loved him.

Also, the funeral-his celebration of life ceremony today was wonderful and truly special, a beautiful tribute to him.

Blessings and Love,

I´m deeply saddened by the loss of my greatest mentor. As you look at the landscape of Michigan´s Child Welfare Leadership, his legacy touches so many boundaries. I am grateful to have experienced the opportunity to work with such a strong and passionate trailblazer for youth and families. I will forever be thankful for my experiences and will continue to lead by the many good values he taught me. In his infamous closure "peace and love". Rest easy Mr. Wollack and thanks for everything!
