As we are celebrating the life of a talent beautiful lady Roberta Flack, who blended jazz, soul, pop and classical music to create a style all her own.
Deepest Symphony Condolences To The Family Of Roberta Flack, Friends, Music Industry & Fans,
Flack´s representatives remembered her as someone who "broke boundaries in"and records ." Flack, who was raised in Virginia, spent nearly a decade as a teacher releasing her first album in 1969, at age 32. Clint Eastwood heard her sing " The First Time Ever Saw Your Face," he put in his 1971 film Play Misty for Me, and the song topped billboard´s Hot 100 for six weeks in 1972. The next year Flack hit No. 1 again with "Killing Me Softly With His Song," which made her perform the first person to win record of the year at the Grammys tow years in a row. Flack released her final album in 2012 and retired in 2018 two years after suffering a stroke. I do remember growing up. I used to hear her songs on the radio, My favorite songs is "Killing Me Softly," The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face. Flack legacy music, but still live on the radio as we continue hearing it playing. We all know that she is in a good place now and has been with the all other artists, and singing two and she earned her angel wings. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

It is so sad to know that the Magic Lady with the voice of a nightingale has left us for the Heavens above. I drove her safely to everywhere she needed to be and someone she considered a friend. She was a very gifted, generous and thoughtful person, and I would forever cherish the times I shared with her. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
Her friend,
Brian Bacchus.

Surrounding Families and friends with Prayers and Love. Ms. Flack was my Choir Director in her "Girls Ensemble" at Browne Junior High DCPS (we performed many places), my music teacher, my private piano teacher in the early 1960's. She was revoltionary teacher who taught us about Apartheid in SA. Introduced us to Miriam Makeba and her music. Not only did she play the piano, she played the guitar in the classroom. Because of her I grew in Black consciousness. I sang Miriam Makeba;s "Sulliram" to my daughters and grands when they were babies. Ms. Flack was not popular among the teachers and staff. I have always been drawn to the rebel, the "outcast", the outspoken, the"Unique One", "The Longshot",.... Her Spirit, her voice, her music and she was Beautiful. I last saw her here in DC at theBohemian Caverns before they closed. When I worked at LOC we would go down to Mr. Henry's to hear her. Was so proud, happy for her and who she became. You will be missed but your Spirit, memories and music will live on as you join The Ancestors for your next chosen journey. She used to call my late brother Vaashon his music class (smile). I am grateful for Ms. Flack being a part of my life, my journey and she helped to shape part of my life....

We met at the David Frost show rehearsal in NYC. I took my lunch hour, my friend Orlando got me in knowing I was a big fan and always talked about your "first take" album. You looked and played for me, being I was the only one in the studio. I was later taken back stage to meet you and Billy Taylor. I was 21 at the time, you were greatness, as I told you that then. You later that night came to my work place, King Karol Records and bought the album and made me sign it in front of all my co-workers, compared to what? Nothing, Life changing forever. You are in bedded in my life always. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Your song said, Angeltos Negros, you are that angel we lost. I guess this is no way to say goodbye. I gave you my age, you gave me your heart. xoxo Tony- Rest in Peace.

I have loved Roberta´s work for a very long time. Her music fills me in a way that´s hard to describe. My favourite song is "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love" a beautiful, soulful tribute to love and song that touches me like no other.
I had the opportunity to meet Roberta outside of Massey Hall in Toronto many years ago, after she performed there. It was a very cold evening, but Roberta was kind and spoke with everyone who waited to meet her and autographed items for those of us who asked. She didn´t rush anyone.
A amazing woman and gifted musician, whose love will live on in her music.

I Thank You, Ms Flack for the love you blessed us all with through sharing the light within your soul. I believe that you are now an Angel in the Heavens, floating in and out between the stars that shine in the night sky. I truly feel I hear your lovely, sweet and soft voice calming my sad and broken heart, and I again, Thank you.
God blessed us all by bringing you into the world, and He blessed my life by sharing you. You would never have known this but you helped me get through many struggles. Even though I wasn't fortuned with knowing you, I lived not far from you and always dreamed to meet you - I just wanted to take your hand and let you know what you did for my soul. Even though this did not happen, I truly felt blessed because I was close to you and it brought peace into my heart.
As Mr. D. Hathaway sings "I love you in a place where there is no space or time". This will continue until I pass and, hopefully I can float behind you, following through the stars that sprinkle your love through our vast atmosphere.
God bless your family, God bless you, I pray for you all. Rest in Peace.

There is no other that will ever be able to compare to Ms. Roberta Flack's remarkable music. I was saddened at the new of her transition. I remember the time when Ms. Lauren Hill had sung a snip-it of Killing Me Softly on The Miseducation Of Lauren Hill CD. I attempted to tell my daughter what the words were; but of course teenagers always know more than the parents, so I played and sung Ms. Roberta's rendition of the classic song, which left my daughters mouth opened and on the floor. That's when I hit her with the Roberta can be imitated but never duplicate, know that for sure!
It has been a honor, a blessing and a pleasure having the Great Roberta Flack as a part of my life.
