Robin Elson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 7, 2025.
Robin (Roberta Fein) Elson passed away June 3, 2025 after a long illness. Surrounded by love in her final moments, her devoted husband Bob, was by her side playing music. https://youtu.be/FivTAeUVTHs. Her son Oliver was holding her hand.

She is survived by them and her son Zach, her brother Alan, brother-in-law Richard (Tatiana). Nieces Brooke (Abdallah), Wendy (Russ), Sarab (Jaime), Katya (Oleg), and her nephew Avtar (Marcy). Cousins Francie (Charles), Judy (the late Hennes), Stuart (Katie), Barry (Ronnie), Janet (the late Rob), Allen (Peggy), Neil (Dianna), Blair (John), Meredith (Jim), Danny, Glenn (Debbie). So loved by her friends Bruce & Alice, Fran & JoAnne, Rob & Suzanne, Steve (the late Susan), Barbara (the late Bill), Michael & Judy, Marcie (the late Larry) & Bekah & Jeff, Leslie & Tom, Ken & Shree, Keith & Ruth, her college roommate Nancy (the late Slim), Toni & Fernando, Amy (the late Howard), Jen & Jon, John & Betty, Buddy & Julianne, Pam & Mickey, Jill & Bob, Ed & Joan, Marlene, Susan, Tanya, Jaime, Rita, Amy, Walter, and so many more. Robin was a psych nurse, taught at Skidmore and cared deeply for her private patients.

Robin was a New York girl, born and raised. Loved being a pioneer in Tribeca, where she helped design their loft. She took on an adventurous spirit when the family moved to Weston. Dove in to trees, shrubs and flowers. When she started her first garden, she got a crash course in what deer and raccoons do to vegetables.

Robin embraced the four-year family move to Tokyo. She particularly loved the food and all the travel possibilities of being in Asia. The family got to attend the Winter Olympics in Nagano and vacationed in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Bali and more. She also doubled-down on her shopping skills, never missing a chance to support local economies with purchases of all manner of fabric, pottery, carpets et al. She was a great cook and loved honing her skills with classes on sushi, Thai and Indian cuisine. Then back to Connecticut and their historic home in Westport that she had admired for years by chance had become available. She so loved being on Kings Highway North, growing hydrangea and peonies.

The house was the focal point of large family gatherings like Thanksgiving. Including a children's table for her growing number of nieces and nephews. Her cooking and hosting skills came to center stage.

Later in life she revisited her interest in sewing. She joined Claudia's sewing group. Apparently, the group did more than just laugh as Robin crafted a variety of amazing dresses, jackets and coats from the fabrics and silks brought home from world travels.

With the boys grown, she and Bob continued their travels, returning to many old favorites in Europe. They did an amazing and exhausting month in India. Saving the best for last was their finale trip to safari in Botswana and South Africa.

She was an avid reader and often sent her special list of books to new babies. Pat the Bunny, Goodnight Moon, Make Way for Ducklings, A Pocket for Corduroy, Curious George, The Snowy Day, Caps for Sale and of course Madeline.

But mostly she was a loving wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt and dear friend. Robin's legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
