I first met chelle in a class in the Lifelong Learning Institute program at National University in Skokie in 2012. We had common friends in Hyde Park. I found a photo of her favorite aunt at an affair attended by mother-in-law. We participated in many LLI programs and were coordinators of a class in American Indian Studies. Who knew of our common interests and budding friendship. In June-August of 2023 her illness began to affect her speech and memory. The last time I saw her was on December 5 at an LLI gathering at the Noth Shore Senior Center - we hugged and expressed our strong feelings for each other. I didn't attend her funeral in April 2023 because of Covid. An intelligent, war, fun being who shared her strengths with many. I miss her dearly and think of her often.

I also benefited from having Rochelle Singer as a professor and as my mentor through my student teaching. She also helped me feel more comfortable as a Jewish person Barat. Though I hadn't seen her since 1991, I thought of her and her teachings often as I've progressed through my own teaching career.

I went to Barat College thanks to my mom Vivian“s friend Chelle. I also had the joy of having her as a professor. I have wonderful memories visiting their house growing up and all the fun games they had on their game closet. She left a great mark on this world. Thank you for all the love and dedication as a teacher and for teachers.

Condolences to the family. I got to know Chelle through the LLI program. She was a strong leader and great strategist when we worked to transition the program from National Louis to North Shore Senior Center.
She also was very friendly and concerned about others. Her LLI colleagues will miss her.
