My condolences.

Our heartfelt condolences to the Wirtz Family from all of us at Grgich Hills Estate

Rocky was my roommate and best friend at Boston University where he spent his first two years of college. We were in contact for years afterwards including me traveling from Boston to Chicago to spend time with him and his wonderful family. This man was a gentleman, kindhearted, funny, smart, and unpretentious to the core. Although it has been some years since I have seen him, such a man will never die in my memory or my heart. He is a wonderful friend. I was from the other side of the tracks yet he respected me because I worked hard to stay in school. I felt tall with him. This loss is so sad and I hope Marilyn, Danny, and the entire family have some peace with the joy of his life - a gift of himself many of us can honor. Goodbye, dear friend. Thank you for everything. Remember how you had me be your campaign manager when you ran to be student senate president? I remember our long walks to classes and one day you casually mentioned that your family owned the Blackhawks. I can remember where we were when you told me, but since you did not go on talking about this, it was just a fact because that is how you wanted it to be. What a man. I cried when you drove off in your yellow souped-up Chevy returning to Chicago to spend your last 2 years at Northwestern. This was a wonderful gentleman with the kindest heart. This is who we remember. Thank you, Rocky. Thank you very much.

"A good man never dies". Thanks for the great Hawks memories Rocky and showing us all how to treat everyone equally, with dignity and respect, no matter who they are or what they have. My condolences to your family and loved ones. And you were loved by many.

My sincere condolences to the Wirtz Family. My father worked with Arthur and Bill and Rocky Wirtz for 50 years. I will never forget the kindness and grace the Wirtz family showed my mom when my dad passed.
God bless you all.

RIP Rocky. You gave our family a Christmas tradition to take our 2 teenage children to a game over winter break instead of buying them gifts that brought us closer together as a family when it was a difficult time to find something we all enjoyed together. I´ll never forget those memories and neither will they. Thank you You did a lot for the fans of this city and we will never forget that.

My Deepest sympathy on the sudden loss of Rocky:

Such a sad day. A great businessman and owner of the Chicago Blackhawks. He gave us many happy moments with our winning team. Hockey is a great sport and he proved what could be done.
We remember all the charities he gave to. May he rest in peace. He will be missed.

To the Wirtz family my sincere condolences. I met Rocky by chance at the UC twice and he signed autographs (he had a sharpie) and gladly took a picture. A class gentleman and thank you for making my Blackhawks great.

Rocky has always been so kind to our family. We will never forget all he has done for us, and the Stanley Cup ride he let us go on with them. RIP Rocky.

Rocky, it´s all been said already, thank you very much for treating each, and every person no matter who they were with the dignity and respect that you´ve shown to each and every person, including ourselves that have interacted with you throughout the years.
A man with a heart of gold, gone way too soon. We will miss seeing you in the concourse is before BLACKHAWKS games and thank you very much for all you´ve done to make that aspect of our lives very memorable for the last 17 years.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Rocky.

During the 1990s, I did business with Rocky and his alcohol beverage distributorships in Illinois and Nevada. I got know him pretty well in those days.

He was a breathe of fresh air in the wine and spirits business. Quick witted with a wicked sense of humor, he could solve puzzling, unnerving, even dire looking business situations quickly and successfully while, at the same time, flashing his wonderful smile. He was a phenomenal human being.

And he will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him.

god speed to someone who was down to earth, and held everyone the same no matter who you were

Rocky will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our time at the Blackhawks organization with be thought of with love and adoration. Rest in peace Rocky. You will be missed. The world is now dimmer without the bright light you shined on all of us.

2 memories...(1) super gracious and gave my client his box so we could go see Neil Diamond....mind blowing and (2) I used to have my 32' sailboat 2 Stardock over from his yacht would tease him when we left port blaring Electric Slide trying to get him to come out with us. He would smile and just shake his head. Such a wonderful man in private!!!!!Shocked & deeply saddened. Chicago lost a chunk of its heart yesterday. The Hawks should dedicate a winning season to him and play knowing he's watching! ;-(

Mr. Wirtz was a friend to thousands of Chicagoans. He had wonderful times visiting his friend Jimmy Gallios at Miller's Pub. His friendship and leadership will not be forgotten. The staff at Wirtz Beverages served many for decades. This is Chicago's Family. Condolences.
