Rod meant a lot to us- he had so much information to give us for the NCTA-he was an informative man -he helped us motivate others and ourselves for the greater cause of establishing our trail and the commitment to people to enjoy our natural resources in this wonderful state Rod was a true visionalist what a great loss today.

Please accept the most profound regrets and sympathies of the Armstrong Clan. Mr. MacRae was largely instrumental in my personal progress in becoming a Clan representative, and for my renewed interest in tracing my heritage and geneology.

Our thoughts, prayers, and sympathies are with you at this time of loss. The contributions that Rod made as a volunteer to the North Country National Scenic Trail and North Country Trail Association are monumental, and a lasting legacy to him. For many years he was the lone leader of efforts in Minnesota. Today there are many devoted to working on the trail in Minnesota, but only because of the foundational work that he did. We, like you, will miss him very much.

Rod was a great help with my wife Janel Harris and I. It was through him that we were able to be married at St. Clements Kirk on the Isle of Harris. His Uncle Donald MacRae helped me with my vows in Gaelic.

Audrey forwarded the news to Danny and he forwarded to us. Both Mary and I are saddened and offer our prayers and condolences to Peg and all the family.
I will cherish getting to know and work with Rod all my days.
We bathe your palms
In the showers of wine,
In the crook of the kindling,
In the seven elements,
In the sap of the tree,
In the milk of honey,
We place nine pure, choice gifts
In your clear beloved face:
The gift of form,
The gift of voice,
The gift of fortune,
The gift of goodness,
The gift of eminence,
The gift of charity,
The gift of integrity,
The gift of true nobility,
The gift of apt speech.
