Rodgers Selwyn White

Rodgers Selwyn White, formerly of Lenoir, North Carolina, entered into the presence of his Lord on July 14, 2025, at the age of 90.

Born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, on November 6, 1934, Rodgers was the son of the late Eugene Dredsal White and Elizabeth Lillian (Correll) White. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and faithful follower of Jesus, Rodgers lived a life of compassion and joy, where he never knew a stranger.

Rodgers proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1955-1959. After his service, he twice attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with degrees in Chemistry and Pharmacy. Rodgers worked a pharmacist for over 40 years; it was a job he truly loved.

Rodgers was an avid fan of his UNC Tarheels. He enjoyed singing in several choirs, dancing, traveling and hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. He dabbled in woodworking and gardening, but more than that he loved spending time with people, especially his grandchildren. He also served others in many ways at First Presbyterian Church in Lenoir and volunteered at the local Helping Hands Clinic.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 65 years, Joyce Kinney White, his son, Mark White (Beth), his daughters, Kristin Jones (Wayne) and Allison Haynes (Greg), eleven grandchildren, Christopher (Monica), Zachary (Kate), Brenna, Jacob (Katie), Quintin, Erin, Katherine, Evan, Wilson, Tyler and Emma, and three great grandchildren, Milo, Peter, and Walter, as well as many devoted friends.

A Memorial service will be held on August 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Glendale Springs Presbyterian Church in Glendale Springs, NC.
