Rodney Collins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2012.
Eastham Rodney Dwight Wesley Collins passed peacefully at his home on March 7, 2012, at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife, Marion Harper Collins and three children, Matthew Bradley Collins of Leavenworth, WA, Erin Lommell Collins of Dennis, MA and Benjamin McKinney Collins of Boston, MA, as well as his sister, Sherry Collins DeJong of Merritt Island FL and brother, Minturn Post Collins III, of Los Angeles, CA. Known most affectionately as Roddy to his close friends and family, he was a kind man of generous spirit and great integrity. An avid hunter and fisherman, he thoroughly enjoyed exploring the marshes and open waters surrounding the Cape in search of bass, bluefish and black ducks. Roddy possessed a wonderful imagination that he applied to marine mechanics, creative carpentry and wild storytelling. He was an amazing cook, an amateur marine biologist, a passionate gardener. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. May he continue to sail the high seas in search of big fish and rendezvous with his beloved RPC in the MotherLand. Long live Yendor Snilloc. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Thanks for all the fond memories you left with all of us. We had so much fun out fishing on your boat. I spent so much time at your house in Orleans I practically had my own room there. You were always a gracious host. Much love to you and your family. Cousin Patti

Many of us from Roddy's earliest days remember him as so kind and friendly. We have been looking for him and I'm so sorry to find that we passed in the night. My best to his family. He started really well and was a wonderful friend to have way back in the Greenwich and Stamford days.

Kind and gentle, devoted husband, loving father. May your spirit soar far, wide and free alongside those you cherish. Farewell my true and steadfast friend, until the day our paths cross again.

There wasn't a kinder man, a quiet man who when surrounded by those he loved would love to spin a story or two. A man who loved his children, his brother and sister, his mother and father, nature, the water, a garden and above all, fishing. He loved to make things from wood: tables and chess boards; he loved to play chess. I will always remember him as a young father. I will never forget his dedication to his good friends. I will treasure having known him.
