Rod was born on July 23, 1963, in Morris, Illinois. He graduated from Coal City High School and went on to build a career in construction. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Gibbons; mother, Lenna Lynes-Hundt; grandparents William and Lillian Marshall; and dear friends Donald "Dago" Perona and Eric "Corky" Johnson.

Rod's memory will live on through the many lives he touched. May those who knew him find comfort in their memories of him.

Sad to hear of Rod´s passing. My memories are very old ones. Rod played football during Coal City High´s football infancy and I was his coach. He worked hard then and from what I can gather that work ethic carried over to his career. Sincerely with love and admiration. Coach

Just heard that Rod passed away, so sad. I grew up with Rod, went to school with Rod, played football with Rod and work with Rod at my grandparents' restaurant. I have not seen him in years but often thought about him. May God grant him peace in his passing and comfort to his family.

I am greatly saddened to hear the loss of a dear ol´ friend. We had a lot of good times from our teens into our 20´s. Working together during our high school summers and then room mates in our 20´s led to lots of parties and good times. I miss all the good times we shared! Rest in peace dear friend.
